I'm stuck between two decisions for my summer loan after just coming back from a viewing and immediately falling in love with the gelding!
Yard 1
Pro
Current riding school/livery yard that I ride at, loads of girls my age, great hacking, indoor only but plans for an outdoor apparently, livery is €100 a week which includes a lesson (I might get livery for a cheaper price due to it being a lease), bus stop right outside the gates which drops me off within a 15 min walk from home. Great hacking near by although you need to be lead by a car for the first 10 mins due to it being a busy road!
Cons
Yard is new so not many schoolies at the moment and haven't particularly fallen for any of them yet that I'd seriously consider but apparently they are looking to buy new ones! Although the horse I lease would have to be used in lessons too.
Yard 2
Pro
I went to view a gelding there today, watched the owner ride for a bit and then I attempted to ride. 5'4 getting on a 16.3 gelding in skinnies isn't the best
(wasn't intending to ride today!), fell in love with him within seconds, real gentlemen lovely responsive horse, 14yo bombproof, being loaned due to owner doing J1 in the summer, yard is owned by my mother's friend's daughter. Great hacking near by
Cons
Bit harder to get to from home, would costs €125 per week for livery, €30 for 1hour private lesson, horse has injured his shoulder a while back although is back to full health I'd be worried of vet bills pouring in when he's in my care
, one about 3 other girls on the yard my age the rest are 20's-30's seriously into competing
Which would you go for? I have a second viewing for Yard 2 next week to properly ride the horse
