Just been given free pony, shall I turn away !

Iv just been offered a decent size cob x who rides and drives and has been used in a riding school. Now the thing is he's only 3 yrs old so how many off you would turn him away for the summer to enjoy a little bit off baby time again before he starts work again? This is what I'm going to do as he's a sweet v quiet pony who has a heart off gold and don't want him getting bitter at such a young age.
There are so many free horses and ponies out there it's scary. This lad was on my door step and I was aproached by his owners so am going to take him but it's scary the situation off the horse world. Oh iv got my recept for £1 as well.
 
He must have been started very early indeed. I wonder how long the school have had him? He might require sensitive restarting reading between the lines. If you take him on good luck and I sincerely hope he turns out to be straightforward. x
 
Was he actually working in the riding school? They're not allowed to use horses under four! If you know who they are, and you know for sure the horse was working underage, maybe tip off the council. I would.
 
I'm not sure how long he was working in the riding school but have the pics off him being ridden and one off him pulling a cart up hill which looks like he's stuggling. He was sold to the people local to me who wanted a safe hack for their son but out off the blue they have just lost their grazing and there's nothing local at all. The riding school will have him back but they said they would rather give him to me then let him go back there. They are really nice people and it isn't their fault they have been put in a awful situation in as little as a week off getting him. He's in a field right next to the railway line and hasn't taken any notice at all off the trains.
 
The pics off him being ridden was off a single person hacking him in the arena and down lanes so if he was used in a rs or was just owned by them and used by their family I don't know and tbh I'm not interested in finding out and reporting them. Weather that's right or wrong
 
I've recently acquired a 3 year old too - she's raced already, and been in work since 18months old - very scary as she's tiny and still looks more like a yearling!

She's very sweet and not at all sour, and i am definitely turning her away for at least 12 months to grow and chill out!
 
TMG, if you've got the time, space and money I'm sure the pony will be landing on his feet as others have said. :)

ps. Double check he has been gelded. lol

the people giving him to y ou have only had him for a week?????? surely there must be something up, if they've only had him for a week and are not going to look for alternative stabling!!!!!!!!

I echo turning him away too, I really hope he is what they say he is and he turns out ok for you.
 
I know the people and know the serious lack off stables and fields in our area it's madness and we need more yards that's for sure. They have 2 weeks to find somewhere which tbh there isn't anywhere and I know that. All livery yards in our area are bursting and iv tried for a few months now to rent another field but nothing at all.
