And very disappointed

Had a call from an owner saying that they were going to have to return the puppy they bought from me due to her ripping her bed up and eating it when left alone. The weight thing is a real shock! She's been down to the vets and had her heart, lungs and tummy checked, her temp was slightly high (39.4) but that could be due to the 5 hour journey and everything being new. Met the 'house dogs' and growled and was quite scared s******s so we've popped her in a kennel with Nero (the biggest, softest teddy bear in the world) she's just stood snapping and yapping at him, don't think I've ever met an inuit quite like her

Hoping we can sort her out, at the moment she looks like a case for Cesar Milan!!!!

I have kept her sister, Lilly, I will have to post pics as she is double the size and some! Pics don't look so bad but in life it looks much worse

OMG that is awful

She looks like a flipping greyhound with an Innuit head

How can people be so bloody stupid/ignorant/uncaring to let their dog get into such a state

Very glad you have got her back and can give her some TLC now, poor little thing

Besides the already mentioned lack of condition, I've never seen a dog so clearly signaling that it has put it's tail up under it's belly either.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the destruction had something to do with frustration.

from Sweden.

To see her ribs like that through what should be a good thick coat is appaling. I expect she ate her bed because she was frickin' starving
mad.gif
Why on earth do people get dogs if they can't, or don't know how to, look after them

What did you say when you collected her?

Will second that. the poor thing looks traumatized, scared and unhappy in addition to lacking condition

Bastards
mad.gif
but a good thing you got her back

Let us know how she recovers.

were they in the slightest bit ashamed when you came to pick her up? or did they think letting her get in this state was ok?!

I am sure she will be fine in time, emotionally too, but surely this was not a cheap dog to buy, so they took the time to actually come and get her, she did not just mosey on by their house one day and decide to live there. WHY would someone buy a dog and then not care for her. I hope karma gets them and I hope the baby girl gets a wonderful life

How did you not slap them?!

I have to think it was purely the rush to get her the hell out of there?
I am so glad you have taken her back, not many people who have bred puppies are so willing or as responsible as you obviously are!
smile.gif

You must have been shocked when you saw her - did they have any excuses as to why she is in this condition?

Thank God they had to the sense to phone you to take her back.

Good grief SM
frown.gif
That must have been very distressing for you. I'm glad she is back in your very capable hands.

And you still have Nero? I thought you were selling him? Or am I just
confused.gif
Would't be a first

Look forward to updates of this one. Hope you can get her back on track

Oh dear
frown.gif
, that's dreadful. Hopefully she will come round, physically and mentally, with time and patience. Such a shame when these things happen to these types of dogs; some folks just don't have a clue

Jesus, no wonder she ate her bed. How did you not slap them?! At least she is safe now.

It was hard to say anything as she was in floods of tears. Dad is quite annoyed that I only made a comment about her weight.

Exactly, that's one reason I like breeding a breed that is not dirt cheap (no offence to JRT owners - mum paid £50 and £80 for hers) as you would expect that you would find a better quality of home for the puppies but clearly this theory is proven wrong.

She's never been one for carrying weight ???

Clearly. They fed her Autarky, I don't really know much about that dog feed. Although we feed raw the pups, brood bitches(only when nursing) and one of our studs are all on Burns (Mini bites, Extra and Active) Vet told me to put her straight on the Active for weight gain.

Yes, atleast they were honest enough to abide by the contract that all new puppy owners sign, I'm sure there are people out there that don't.

Lol...no you didn't dream that up. We were selling him as I thought we'd have problems with he and Moto, however they tolerate each other (definitely not best buds) so Nero could stay, I'm glad really
smile.gif
Those pups of Briers are sired by Nero
laugh.gif

Yes, it'll be along time before she's ready for rehoming
crazy.gif
Such a shame, she seems so sweet, sticking to me like glue.

surely part of a contract (though unwritten) is that when you are entrusted with a puppy from a breeder you take care of that puppy? how awful if breeders have to start adding that clause in because people are too stupid to know it already....

omg you must have been so upset to see her like this, sounds like they have done nothing with her, had they ever thought that she may have been hungry when chewing up the bed, poor girl hope you manage to get her right soon

Poor wee thing, she looks so sad. At least they honoured the contract and contacted you, dread to think what may have happened to her otherwise
crazy.gif
Good luck with her rehabilitation, I'm sure she will return to her former glory with your TLC, please post lots of progress reports.

New pups are adorable too btw

Oh no, not to do with looking after as such. If for any reason (moving abroad, divorce, renting a house with no pets allowed e.t.c) they cannot keep their puppy/dog, it is returned to me to rehome instead of filling already full rescue homes.

I suppose I meant more of an unwritten moral contract...I just don't understand why someone would get a dog, or any animal, then not care for him or her and not only not care, but neglect and abuse - especially when there was the option of returning her to you at a much earlier stage. Is she a little better in herself today?

Thats awful, poor little thing. You can perhaps understand some weird disorder going unnoticed by new owners, but lack of food, thats not exactly rocket science is it.
Poor little girl, best of luck with her.

Ye, you would think so wouldn't, with any animal. But why spend £650 on a puppy to near on starve the thing?

Yes, a little better, just posted and update, thanks for all the comments...
