They couldnt wait to come in out of the heat bless them.

Who elses horses are in today?

Out and sweating today. They do have shelter etc, but mine has a thick coat, and will be clipped this weekend if the weather doesn't break

Although it being this warm means he gets out of doing any work today

mine is out - but have spent the morning iffing and butting! its hot outside AND hot in the stable ...... what to do, what to do???????

In, with access to a bit of yard as well as the stable. There isn't any shade in his field.

He often comes in for a bit during the day at the moment anyway, to get him off the grass (strip grazing just isn't enough when it's growing as well as it is at the moment).

mine comes in every day, pink nose, no shade in field.

mine has a very pink nose - i have tried kids total sunblock - sudo cream ect - to no avail! still got a sore peeeling nose - i have now put him in a nose net with a head collar - not perfect, as i hate head collars in fields, but it really has helped keep his nose from getting sore. x

Yep, it's too hot to do anything. I went up early to do jobs and just had to leave them to it. Even if we stabled during the day, the stable was like an oven, so probably worse than the field.
I have two with very pink noses by the way, get some P20 sunfilter, it really, really works. I use it on myself as well, slap in on am and you're set for a whole day in the sun.

I may get shouted at for this but i have found Jeds pink nose it better if i dont put anything on it. I was using factor 50 kids stuff and he came in really sore later on. I forgot to put anything on one day last week and his nose was fine! Very odd!

Also someone suggested putting sudo crem on thier noses? Anyone else used this and does it work?

My three go out at about 7.30 and are usually out until lunchtime when i get them in but one is ULTRA sensitive to heat and flies and came in at 11.30. The other 2 are fine (thick skinned, bless them) and have just come in (1.15pm). They will all go out later tonight for a couple of hours when it cools down (or until ULTRA sensitive man says it's time to come in!!)
The worst thing is i don't feel like riding but i'm sure they don't either!

We turned ours around on Friday night and they have been so greatful.

Because of my working hours they have to come in at 6.30am and this morning they were already getting eaten by horse flies!

Poor badger was sleeping in his field his face plastered in flies, it took me ten mins to get him up, bless him. Guarenteed that within 5 minutes of me leaving they would both have been passed out snoring in their boxes!

one of mine is in during the day as he feels the heat plus to keep him off the grass but my others out in fly rug, got plenty of shelter. Both will have a sponging over later!

Mine's in today.
Put her out yesterday and went down mid-afternoon to bring her in. She was so bothered by the horse flies that I couldn't catch her, she was belting round trying to kick them off her.
Then had a drama bringing her in, so decided safest for all to be in today. She'll probably go out tonight if the horse flies aren't too bad.

Sudo cream does work - the problem is that they rub it off when they are grazing.x

Interestingly i put sun cream on my girlies very pink nose and i thought it was looking worse than when i didnt put cream on

I was wondering whether it was because the cream made her nose sort of oily which was making it burn?
I smothered her nose in sudocrem today while she is standing in tho, again dont like to use it when she is out in case it aids the burning

Mine are in, dad bought them in at around 12, they were all waiting at the gate wilting like flowers. I know the stables are almost as hot outside, but theirs are shaded and at least they are out of the direct sunlight. D also came in covered in horse fly bites, hes got 3 massive lumps on his neck and 1 on his bum. Cant see if he has anymore as i didnt go into the stable in my works clothes. The midget is proping himself on the the midget sized stable door and H was leaning up the wall. They will go back out late tonight hopefully once it has cooled down a bit. I wont be riding tonight now as D will just drop, but have said to dad that he can get up with me at 5 tomorrow morning and come over the field with me (D is being a complete t*at at the moment so dad sits in the field/follows in the car hacking to make sure i dont have yet another accident) so that i can get a ride before it gets too hot.

Mels comes in during the day, out of the heat and off the grass, Ill hack out/school depending on weather and then she goes back out about 7pm with a bug rug and mask on.

The outtie ones are eating big bale haylege under the trees and the innies have back and front doors for a breeze to go through

my youngster has been brought in as he has a pink nose, is really sweaty and his breathing doesn't seem to be so good in this heat which i am a bit worried about. our other two are out though and they have shade from the trees.
