Got 50 bales of hay baled today for £1.00 a bale off the field. Ok, it is never going to be top quality stuff due to recent weather conditions but its ok and although is probably got very little nutritionally it is something I can mix with haylage for any hard times ahead. Wish I could of had more! How much is everyone else paying???

That's great news!!

I don't pay anything as I own a hay farm, however I also had some nice news today - we have been GIVEN a 15 acre field of standing hay to cut, bale and keep all hay from it. I am very happy too!!

Santa145, got it from Bradworthy, they wanted £2 a bale off the field but I offered them £1 and they accepted! Mind you, I wanted 100 bales and they would only let me have 50. Think they are holding out for more money from other people!

I have just had my field cut, I usually get approx 250 small bales but this year I did 4ft haylege bales and I got 35. They cost £9 each. I am happy with that, and the weather was perfect too which was a relief

thats pretty good for standard size bales...it's going to be scare come christmas.

i mananged to get 44 round bales that are surprisingly excellent quality for £12 each

, that should last us the winter, if it isnt as wet as the last one

Blimey that's good. We just got 105 bales form our usual supplier for £2.25 each delivered and stacked. We usually pay £2.50 but because it was this years hay they dropped the price by 25p which i thought was rather generous considering the shortage. xxx

I dont suppose you know of any haylage going cheap around North Devon? Half the farmers haven't cut theirs yet and the rest are holding on to it for their own use. We have a TB who cant have hay.
