Brousing thru the eventing results last weekend I noticed that WFP's catch ride at the 2* at South of England was usually ridden by a Mr Ken Spencer and he'd usually done very well with the horse at Intermediate.

Then looking at the rider's previous results, it looks like he started both First Flight II and Osh Kosh. Is he an event dealer? Or just very talented at bringing on potential advanced horses?

I think all eventers dabble in a bit of dealing, but he is very def primarily a very good eventer round here (south east) and i know many people who are taught by him and he is thought of pretty highly. He's a very nice chap

Also when good horses are with unknown riders - often they are taken off the unknown rider when they start doing well and are given to a known name to fulfill its full potential......

My horse can be difficult and Ken Spencer was recommended to me as a rider and/or trainer. I agree with Hattikins that he has a good reputation in this part of the world. He also has a very good track record. Unfortunately he is in the same class as me this weekend at Pulborough!

Yes, very good rider/trainer, and also a genuinely nice guy. I'm also from the South - He used to teach me at Pony Club years ago, and now when I'm out BE always smiles and says hi to mum if we cross paths, despite the fact he wouldn't have seen me for quite a few years.

the reason william had the ride, is that ken had a bad fall the day before at home off of one of his other horses and hurt his shoulder. he hasn't lost the ride they just wanted the horse to still run.
