.....Boohoo!!! Having spent a day and a half having lessons I have just failed my test! But it wasn't entirely under my control, my blooming car that I had been practising in and supposed to be taking my test in decided to break down and so as a last minute compromise I decided to sit the test using the driving school's minibus with the trailer attached, I would have lost the test fee anyway so I had nothing to lose. Needless to say, and those of you that have done the "S shaped reverse into the parking bay with the back end of the trailer in the yellow box without hittin the barrier" bit will know how tricky that is, let alone in a vehicle you'd never driven before, I didn't even make it out of the test centre! So annoyed with myself and my car, adding that to the £115 test fee I am blooming well peed off!

Oh well, back to using hubby as a horse taxi then ........

I am thinking of doig mine are the place you trained gonig to offer you some free training to compensate you or is it just hard luck.

Did you have to do a theory first? Also how many hours training have you had to pay for

thanks

TO be fair the the training place they've been pretty good and I had an extra hour this morning for me to get the feel of the minibus, obviously couldnt practice the reversing exercise though. So just hard luck really.

No need to do a theory test, they do ask you some on the spot questions about safety of the car and maintenance but nothing that isn't common sense really. I had 12 hours training beforehand, and I think had my car not broken down that would have been fine

Oh bad luck

.

I would have thought they should at least supply the car and trailer free of charge for your next test - as I found the most expensive part was hire of the vehicle

I failed mine a little while ago also on the reversing. I was most pi$$ed off because, without sounding too big headed, im and very very good at it!!!

I practiced and practiced until i got it spot on without having to take any shunts forward!

I now tow with L plates with my Mum in the car. Its a bit of a pain having to make sure she's free before i arrange to go out but atleast i still get to tow on my own.

I did my training with Big Wheelers, based in Llanishen. I have to say I thought they were pretty good and the trainer really knew his stuff. The test centre then is in Llantrisant, just behind that big garage on the dual carriageway off the M4.

I did this too! I screwed up the S bend the first time as well and failed. I also failed a second time but finally passed 3rd time lucky. I hated the test, it was ridiculous making me drive through the middle of a city with it when with my horses I never do that!! And as for the S-bend, yeah Ive REALLY used that since I passed a few years ago NOT!

Glad I'm not the only one who had problems with the reverse! And is good to hear that you guys passed eventually! Now and trying to decide whether to stick with the training company or whether to just do it myself and save some money!

i failed on reversing first time too. jack-knifed the trailer - oops! never did that in practice. got it in in one go every single bloody time in practice - nerves got to me. i still went on my road drive and managed to fail twice more out on that coz of bloody nerves!

got myself together and passed with only 2 minors the next week with no more lessons.
