Just thought I would post a couple of vids of our hack the other week. It was only a few months ago I was terrified to take him out on my own, and now I love it. In fact I prefer it now to when I go with other people and am worried he will get all competitive and showy offy and take off with me again. Fingers crossed he won't as we are going out with a friend next week, to the forest where she lives so will be very new and exciting for him!!!

Will also try and film jumping this week, to see how we are coming on together as personally I feel a real change! Am also taking a dressage exam in a couple fo weeks so things are improving all round. Will try and film some dressage to as last post with film was him really pulling me so would be interesting to see if you think we have progressed at all!!!

It is a lovely feeling hacking on your own and I must admit I now prefer it as I go at own speed and please ourselves. I like the idea of a video cam for hat but it would probably be swiped off by trees and bushes.
Glad your enjoying your pony.

I don't have one of those cams either. I just have my camera which I have on a thing around my neck and then just hold it when we film and tuck it down my body protector at other times. I would love one though for jumping, that would be fun!!

Wow! You have some great hacking! Very jealous of the variation and the weather there! Well done on hacking by yourself! It's great being able to do as you like, at what speed you like! :)

Very nice! I love going out for a wander on my own with my pony. Just one thing, does your horse have an 'odd' gait? Only in the first vid he seems to shuffle a foot every few strides?

Its great hacking from there, The roads are lovely and quiet, although that does tend to mean the cars we do meet can be driving way to fast as don't expect to see anyone. But all the lanes through the country side are great as you only ever see a couple of tractors and very rarely a car. I can hack on paths like that for 2 hours, and then canter on the edge of some of the fields, so really very lucky.

I also have another hacking route which is 2 -3 hours, you have to get over a big wooden bridge first (very noisy with hooves!!) and then you are in a nature reserve where no cars are aloud, and its just beautiful. But its long as the paths are to hard to trot on so def no cantering.

We are getting so much more confident together, he is only 7 and blind in one eye, so can be a bit spooky but not overly. My Rs-tor has really helped I have to say.

We are doing our first outing by van to a forest next week, so really hope it goes ok!!!! Looking forward to it though as my friend is pretty sensible so is ok to walk him through before even trying trotting!!

He is fine in the school, but often trotting out he is like that. I think its because I don't push him forwards enough as he is not sure so goes kind of funny so to speak and doesn't pick his feet up properly. Its that or too forward going and darting off. He has also fallen over trotting on grass, for the same reason.
