Really? When I rang up for a quote 18 months ago the price was skyhigh for a 3year old in v.light work (obviously) worth £1500! It was just a ridiculous price though I can't remember the exact figure.

But I used to be with them, and they were terrible when I needed to claim back, so I wasn't too bothered.

That has surprised me. I've always found they pay out no problem. There not the cheapest but for me they are the best.

That will be a good quote but are you aware that your saddle is not considered as tack? All other tack will be covered but if you read the small print you will find that your saddle will need to be named & you will pay extra to have that covered.

This is not just an NFU thing, you will find that most insurers do the same.

nfu never bothered to get back to me with a quote, even though i chased them twice gave up in the end

NFU absolutely brill at paying out. My mare has had two operations recently and I got a cheque for £5000 from the NFU so quickly after I claimed for vets fees. I will definitely be sticking with them.
