Just got our worm count results. Now what?!

Had Molly & Mo worm counted for the first time.

Less than 200 epg is considered a low count so less than 50 is very low! I'd reckon that is a level you'd get away without worming but keeping an eye on it by doing monthly counts. I know with sheep (not the same I know, but the principles are the same in that we try and worm less to avoid resistance) we wouldn't worm until 500epg in a bulk sample or clinical signs. Not much help really! Do the lab not give you any advice with the report?
 
The lab should give you guidance to exactly what this means. We (Westgate Labs) send a simple explanatory sheet with all results and also discuss any worming required or missing in the current programme, if the client requires it.

So, if we did your test the return pack explains all, or we can be emailed or phoned for help. If we didn't then get back to the folk who did it. No point in having a result that you don't understand.
 
Depends when they were last wormed for tapeworm (can blood test) and encysted redworms, neither of which show up on the egg count and therefore need to be treated separately.
 
Like Wishful says it depends when they were last wormed and what with. Don't forget they need to be done for bots around now so if you a buy a wormer to treat for that it will probably cover the low redworm count you got back anyway, whether it needs doing or not

They were last wormed with Equest on the 16th of October 07.

Just read through the stuff the lab sent me and i'm supposed to call them to discuss the results.
