After reading so many posts about it on here recently, I was feeling rather happy, thinking that I was managing the two natives well, watching thier feed, restricing their grazing etc, so much so that they have lost some weight over the last few weeks. Last couple of days though the shetland has been a little tentative on his feet, and I had an incling as to what it may be and sure enough, farrier has been out this afternoon and its laminitis. Thankfully we have caught it early, but i'm so angry and upset that I've let my ickle pipsqueak down and that he is suffering because I didnt do enough. I'm now on the phone to the vets to see if its worth while giving him some pain killers just to make him a little more comfy for the next few days.

Oh god, I just feel so rubbish, if its not one thing with one of them its something else to one of the others... :(

sorry, to hear that.. its such a horrible thing, and comes on so quickly.
Your doing your best to manage the natives, so dont beat yourself up, even though you feel terrible. Atleast you have caught it on the early stages. It will be a matter of giving them very little grazing, which is horrible to.

Absolutely worthwhile giving him painkillers!Cant imagine anything worse than having sore feet and no pain meds.

Poor little man, having had a native I do understand how the weight sneaks up on you when you think you've got it under control so you do have my sympathies.

I'm sure he''ll appreciate Bute and a nice deep bed to lie on while he recovers.
