brought my boy in tonight as he was out all day resting from yesterdays brill day (see comp riders for report) and had just put him into stable and i went and got hayledge, gave it to him and then filled a bucket up with water for the sugar beet.

i heard him groan so knew he was rolling (he always groans when he gets down

) so went to watch. good thing i did!

poor boy had rolled right over and gotton very close to the wall, so much so that he couldnt get up - he got cast. yelled to the YO and she ran and got some rope. i went in to keep him calm, and he seemed to be in deep thought of how to get out of this pickle. he then suddenly got all his energy up and twisted and he was somehow able to get his back legs up high enough roll back over, and he got up and shook himself. i checked him for cuts and he seemed fine, and not really very bothered by his ordeal?!? walked him out (well he came out) and checked him again and he seemed fine again.

it was a very scary moment for me - he took it all in his stride!

Hi, I'm new to the forum but read your event report (well done!!) & just read about your scary moment. My horse got cast Friday night (curse the 13th!!) Unluckily I wasn't there to help him out. He was up by the time the first person got on the yard saturday and could't understand why he looked like Quasimodo! He's covered in grazes and bruises & has obviously bashed his head as the whole of one side of his face is swollen & he could barely open his eye! The vet's checked him out & hopefully it's just bruising (a lot of the swelling has gone down already) but I was worried he'd fractured his skull for a while! They do like to scare us don't they!

wow! that is very scary! thanks for reading!

welcome to the forum!

hope your horse recovers ok (((((hugs)))))

He doesn't look at all fazed by his ordeal now. Vet said he was better off being out to keep moving so he just thinks he's had a lovely weekend off! He now has HUUUGGE banks (thank goodness he has rubber matting down too) As soon as I figure out this technical stuff I'll try to put some pics on...pre Quasi style!

we had one horse get cast when no one was there and she got her foot caught in her hay net its lucky we do a late chek other wise it would have been bad news it took six people to get her up as she had also got her leg stuck in the window so she was hanging from her back end it was very scary she had to have six weeks off cuz she lecerated(sp) her back leg

not sure about the wine, (im 17) but a glass of cider may do the trick

it was so surreal when it happened - im just soo glad that i was there to see him and make sure it was all right.

We had a silly TbxWelshD who got stuck upside down in the snow. She called for help quietly, so that the black and white cob mare did not 'help'. We rolled her over and back again, so that the snow was bashed down round her, she got to her feet and went off to play, totally unconerned. Me and my sister were knackerd as she was no lightweight, although very co-operative

Glad your boy is alright.
