When I was helping someone with uploading pictures from Photobucket, a picture of Tiggy came up first on my account. Made me think. I've just had a look and wanted to share...

Ho hum. Loved that horse. Out of words now, so will go and do some work for a while.

Oh my goodness she was lovely. It is funny how they can "catch you" when you least expect it and all those emotions come flooding back x

Beautiful.

Sorry to be behind the gate on this one, but is she no longer with you?

No, sorry, I should have said. Sorry. I lost her two years ago this October, she was four and a half. Chronic damage to both rear susponsory ligaments. I'd had her for a year. The first picture is the day before she went, the second was just before I loaded her up to take her to the AHT. As the ligaments were so badly damaged, in a horse so young and with so little work history, I donated her to the AHT to further their research, only I had to travel her there and have her put to sleep there. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. They were lovely, but still, so hard.

I keep getting that with my old boy- I saw a photo I didn't know existed of us two together and it stopped me dead in my tracks. Nothing stops you from feeling that absolute gutwrench of the re-realisation that this and some amazing memories are all you have left.

Big hugs- it hurts rather a lot.

She was lovely, had always pictured her as bay for some reason, had no idea she was a spotty.

Hope the LC and Dizz are settling well into their new home :)

Oh blast, sounds a similar story to my homebred who I had pts at 5, I donated her for research her as well, and had a similar moment last Monday when I took my daughter to a show which I took elsa to last year, her one and only outing and she was a star. Nearly lost it at the show but ended up just remembering the good times. yours was a real beauty and a good person. X

She is beautiful. And you are very brave for doing what you did and letting her help others.

Big hugs xxxx

MrsM she's beautiful and donating her was a wonderful and selfless thing to do. I'm sure she would be glad to know she's made a difference to their research.
((Hugs))

Very sad :( but a great thing to do :) as hard as it must have been, knowing that what you did could possibly help other horses must be a great bittersweet feeling :)

Thank you all :)

She was a brilliant horse and friend (don't care if that sounds soppy).

And yes, a true spotty. Didn't go looking for a spotty though. Was looking through pages and pages of horses, on Horsequest I think, then saw her. Fell for her. Took myself off to see her in sunny Wales somewhere up a mountain. Saw her. Fell in love and knew I'd have her, even though she was at least a hand smaller than I was looking for and younger and a girly (was initially looking for a 17hh plus four or five year old gelding). Sort of knew it wouldn't be 'happy ever after', but still wanted her :).

I'm now ready to have some pics of her and of my dog, who I lost three months later, up on the wall :)

F - hugs hun.

Such a shame to lose them so young. She was a lovely little mare. :)

I have a pic of my old boy as the background on my pc and my dog, Hooch, as my profile pic on facebook and background on laptop. Not ready to let go yet!:) If ever!:)

I booted up another laptop a couple of days ago. The background is me on the Tigs. Such a grin. So happy.

Good days :)

Hold onto your memories :)

MrsM I had known about what happened to her from posts on here but not seen her until now - she was indeed an absolute beauty, can see why you fell for her. So tough on you for losing her so early but here's hoping her sad passing has given new life or hope or at least options for helping with such conditions through that research to other horses.
