I'm so so annoyed at myself right now!
In hind sight it's obvious but here's my idiot story of the day just incase!
Long reined pony- we went straight out today down the lane where his nappings always been at its worst. He's been reining down there no problem so I didn't really anticipate trouble... Or the post banger behind the hedge at the exact spot problems occur if they are going to
This would have been ok, had I not the previous day changed the stirrups on the saddle I use, to safety stirrups- without even thinking. I needed some black leathers and swapped his for mine.
So what happens when your long reining, pony rears and naps severely and you have stupid safety stirrups? ...... A messy disaster which could have ended far worse than it did
Moral of my day.... Never ever long rein even a quiet horse without proper stirrups or a roller.
Accident avoided but only just, just hoping we don't go a step backwards as he's doing so so well.
