Driving home from the yard, I encountered a chap walking a horse up the road - both in hi vis and looking like they were "doing something official". And they were !

The horse (I guess Clydesdale/ ID ?) was in fab condition, bar a saddle sore, which meant his owner was having to walk beside him  They are staying in stables along the route - this took over 500 hours to organize !

I was really impressed - good luck to them both, and keep an eye out for them !

Ah thanks! Just been on a sabbatical. Now the phone app is working much easier.

He said hh we're not interested which is very sad. So I said the hho's may be, hence the post.

Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea this was happening. I have shared on facebook and a couple of horsey fb groups to get the word out. Strider is a lovely looking boy :)

I really wish him lots of success :)

Oh my god how wonderful - I've always wanted to do something like that. Does anyone know how to find out where he is and does he allow strangers to join him for sections of his route (or just stand and cheer - I'm not really fussy)?

He is heading to Richmond, north Yorks, and I think the catterick Saddle club. A long, long way from Winston where I met them. (15.2 miles to be precise).

He said his farrier is following them, and Strider is shod every three weeks. Apparently he's ex dressage and jumping. And I am sure any support you can give them would be welcome !

Thanks so much for adding to Facebook - let's get the word out.

I didn't know this was happening. Just had a look at the timetable and see I missed him in my area. Shame I missed him. There was nothing in the local press either.

What an epic journey - Good luck to them both.

Here is the photo I took in Winston today. Have contacted the local news and the Daily Fail too.

Oh blimey the pic app on here has changed, give me a few minutes.

Urgh, it won't show the pic, just the link to it (plus the rest of my album !).

Sorry. But a much better website here -
