OH has always been keen to grab handfulls of food and feed horses over their doors. I've asked nicely and explained about diet etc but all to no avail. To keep the peace as he tends to sulk - I turn a blind eye to carrots - though it makes me mad that they whicker when the feed room door opens. Anyway, now he's started giving his left over lunch to the dog. Doggy has started to beg for food and also had a poorly tummy the other day. I stated that he was to stop feeding my animals. Now he's stormed off and says he'll eat in the car on his own. Not seen him since! Childish or what?

Yeah….. I would sit back and evaluate the relationship because there are probably more instances where your wants, needs etc. are disregarded. I think you held firm because it’s the animals.

My moms ex would feed handfuls of nuts to my horse when a handful of ration balancer is all she got. Looking back, she really didn’t respect my boundaries nor did she respect my brothers. My mom knew this and ultimately it led to their breaking up despite my mom saying she’s the love of her life.

I cannot imagine how much that hurt my mom, but at the end of the day she unselfishly made the right choice.

Thank you all for your kind replies. We've been together for over 20 years but never lived together - guess you can see why! Dementia - I have to admit I'd not thought about that, I will monitor. He has always been sulky, goes home then appears again sometime later. Takes all sorts but thank you for confirming that I'm not being unreasonable.

I’ll speak for myself but I am here and I’d being willing to bet I’m not alone.
