Daisy isn't right tonight, looks 1/10th lame behind when trotted uphill on a hard surface but there is no obvious heat. Slightly fluidy but then both the back legs are and I have no idea what they usually look like because they are usually covered by inches of feather which I shaved off tonight to have a look.

I can't help wondering if she's sore from when she got caught in the electric fence a week ago and pulled it down with her back legs. I gave her a day off at the time and she seemed a bit shocked but fine. I brought her back into gentle work after 48 hours and has been fine. The only sign of possible discomfort has been a real aversion to being caught for the last few days and a bit of reluctance to leave the yard when ridden.

Would you get the chiro out to have a look and see if she twisted herself when she brought the fence down? Having spent most of last summer having a mystery lameness investigated I know that the vet won't be interested unless he can see where she is lame. I had three visits last year when he said that she wasn't lame enough to be investigated and could I make her more lame please.

I hate that attitude from vets. You wouldn't call them out for a laugh, you can see there is something wrong with the horse so why can't they? What are you supposed to do, kick it in the hock so its on three legs and then you can say "right, now you can take me seriously"? Drives me nuts. Unfortunately there's not enough Sue Dysons and other top vets to go round, they're mega expensive and the numpty vets you need to refer you aren't interested because they can't even see its lame.

Sorry went off on one a bit there! She's probably fine, just a strain/bruise or something. Personally I'd give her some bute for a week and see if she comes right. If she doesn't then go down the physio then vet route.
