Sorry - this is just an interest one, always wondered whetehr ym horse is REALLY the bargain i thought he was....

he's Welsh cob with excellent breeding (Carnwallon Llewellyn, Derwen Vanessa), dark bay, 15hh, 9 yrs, excellent conformation, very striking and knows it. has done really well showing locally and could do county level i reckon. Exceptional natural balance and paces to die for - judges always comment on them. just starting lateral work. My instructor says i could easily BD him, but at the moment he's only done local dressage comps.
He is incredibly friendly, comes when called, loves people etc. relatively good to load (i.e. goes straight in but is a bit worried when he has to turn sideways at the top!). BArefoot and low maintenance, lives out no rugs.
Downsides: really not an easy ride. once you have him going well he gives an amazing feel but he has a real sense of humour and can be lazy and spooky. Has a very nasty sideways spook if genuinely scared.
He would jump quite nicely if wound up enough but becuase of the nasty sideways spooking i haven't jumped him above about 2 foot as have tunred into a wuss!! he doesn't do it gften though.... will hunt this year i think.
hacks out nicely in a group but not really on his own unless you're feeling very patient.
ALSO (I know this doens't improve sale price but still!) he gives kisses, shakes hands, plays football, puts his head down etc on command and loves clicker trianing and attention in general.
Lovable and genuine but quirky!!

I can put pics on if someone tells me how.....??? he is very handsome (can you tell im a proud mum lol!)

Thank you!

I would have thought that not jumping more than 2ft and the fact that at 9 he is only starting lateral work would limit his value. For him to be worth a good deal I'd expect a bit more competition history too.

Maybe £4k given his breeding.

without seeing pics at 9 and not done much and quirky 1.5-2k max.

(ps mine has a lazy and spooky side too that is just welsh

however it doesnt stop us doing everything........ apart from driving we gave up on that

yeh i know - i have found out after buying him that W cobs have this reputation (also i think it's in the bloodline as every time i see his relatives advertised they say susp things like 'experienced ride only' and so on!)!! It is cool though, I don't mind, wouldn't want a boring horse....!

nah they are fine so long as you are confident with them and enjoy for them for what they are and have boundaries.

Get on and jump him I bet he will be fab

and mine only started dressage age 14 and it has made him much stronger hoping to do some BD when it stops being cancelled

lol - well i do, but the thing is that the best thing to get him enjoying himself and making a nice shape is to follow someone else, or at least have someone else in the school wiht me - however, this makes him gallop very fast at it, which he LOVES, and i don't mind (usually am very confident rider!) but then i keep freaking out that he'll freak out at the last minute and we'll both head straight into the wing very fast. Need to get over it though, he likes it - hope the hunting might help, and am gunna work on it this summer! It's me not him really, bless him.

would love to see pics there is a how to step by step guide in photo gallery, you need a photo bucket account to upload your photos and then copy and past the image link on to here. good luck!
