Hi my name is Carol and my main horse is called Pascal. I would like some advice on weaving and not sure which forum to ask on. My boy is fantastic he is 5 and we are backing him. He has no problems in the stable at all or with backing so far he is a real sop as soon as the bridle is on and doesn't weave when our girl is in stable next to him. He only weaves when she goes for a ride and he is left behind. He isn't backed enough to go with her yet. I can't groom him in the yard either as he constantly paws the ground. When is the stable he doesn't paw the ground. He has food and a treat ball which he normally loves. The weaving is not because he is bored but because he has separation anxiety. We are taking our girl short distances and bringing her back. Has anyone any more ideas please.

It's pretty normal for them to do it in that situation when they have separation anxiety. I'm not sure what you can do either other than let him get used to it. When he knows that she will come back he might settle down.

You could try a stable mirror. You could use a small acrylic mirrored sheet. They aren't expensive like real mirrors and you wouldn't need a big piece.

Mine was very herd bound. It has lessened over the years and over the last few months he just seemed to get over it. He'll go off to graze alone now. Yours may well get over it as he gets older.

Hi sorry late reply. We have watched him when he is stabled at night via a wildlife camera and he never does it. He seems so content and loves his stable. He only does it when my daughter is around.
