Oops have pics of the vet drainin an abcess on one of our old horses neck, but it was from a flu jab so needed 'proof' to send to the company for insurance purposes.
That ones very colured, his was more like dirty water, but the smell was REALLY unbearable!!! Oh they feel so much better when its done, could see the relief on our boys face!!!

Saw something similar years ago at my previous yard.

Horse had an abcess on it's neck - and the vet opened it up - stuck a hose pipe in it flush it out - lovely thick custard came out. The horse was as good as gold, no sedation, just hugely relieved at the release of pressure.

Gross - but again, oddly and very satisfying......

Are we all weird????

That is not a lot - wait till you see pleura pneumonia - you get about 20 times that amount.

That's horrible, why isn't he wearing gloves tho!!

No need - it is not like puss is sterile, and he can't catch anything from the horse.

i have seen it before as well, gross but how nice for the horse to get rid of it its another one where an abcess on a youngsters bottom is being bursted

MFE and Chestnut_Mare1 thank you for the help

Mmmmm when my TB had a Haematoma 3 years ago, the Vet had to lance it and it was blood and gore and not for the faint hearted
