. Does it matter? I hear you say - well you never know some guy in the future may want to marry me (yes a big MAYBE - especially as there isnt one on the scene at the minute!) LOL

Good news is they are taking the wires out in 2weeks time

- well actually 19488hrs to be precise! Cant wait (not!), bad point is there is going to be no GA, no LA, no nothing. So going to have to dope myself up in the morning ready for them to be pulled out whilst im fully aware of everything!!

Worst bit is - i have accepted not riding till the op

but im still not allowed to ride after that till he gives me the OK which could be ages.

How long would you leave it till you ride? Reason I ask is seen as how im a bad patient and removed my hand bandage after 2 days then removed my finger dressings 2 days after that, I cant see me holding off riding for another minimum 2 weeks or more.

Last good thing is im having the wires out on May 1st, so should have plenty of time to get ready for my first show of the season on May 7th!

I think you are going to be pushing it!!! Just be careful! I leapt into the saddle after an op without thinking, and I felt fine... then the horse tanked off with me and I really did not have the strength to pull him up and visions of revisitiing the hospital were flashing through my mind!!! I had been told not to ride for a month and two weeks later,,,,, off I went literally!!!

Thats the thing that has been putting me off riding as one handed riding on a 17.2hh 4yo doesnt seem to be a very good idea. I cant really hold her if she pulls the leadrope through my hand when in hand if I use my left hand but ok with the right of course.
My surgeon tired to scare me into not riding by telling me about a girl who severed her spine - it fused and she can walk but didnt mention her riding though.
Well maybe I should listen to him. And I suppose the walking/jogging horse out in hand will get me fit!

Please dont rush it, it wont be worth it if something goes wrong.

I fractured my elbow around xmas time, and like you was sick of not riding after a week, so silly me, took arm out of sling and thought what the heck, I can ride one handed.

Went for a hack on L, he wasnt even naughty or strong but my arm was agony for days afterwards, just from using it a tiny bit. I rode him in the school a few days later, still weak sore arm and he did take off, managed to stop but god the pain!

After that decided to wait a few weeks!
