Left the car parked in the sun while I was doing horsey stuff today (Henry was at home breaking into the dog food stores:mad::rolleyes:). I was away for a couple of hours, and when I got back, my pasty was hot all the way through and my snickers feels liquified:eek::eek::eek:

Just goes to show how hot it gets, glad I left Henry at home (not that I would have left him in the car, he would have come out with us).

Nipped out to get fly repellent and my car was baking.

And just to show how hot it was, i had an inch deep puddle on my passenger side floor last night after i left the door open a bit (in all that rain argh) and today it is bone bone dry.

Wouldnt leave a dog in a car period, but you would have to have something serious missing in your brain to have one out in this heat!

We didn't even take ours with us this morning because of the heat just travelling in the car even with windows open. They are never left in it anyway but I thought they would be more comfortable in the cool of the house.

Mine have been romping around the the garden and cool down by lying on the flagstones which are really cool. Ive popped to the supermarket earlier and its surprising how many dogs are in cars, not left but they looked incredibley hot. I couldnt think of anything worse than to take my 2 anywhere in the car this weather. It is absolutely scorching.

I've just had to bring Evie in, she was out in the garden with me and instead of lying in the shade was playing with a 5 gallon water container (don't ask), she was so hot I decided to shut her in the house for a bit. Heaven help any poor dog left in a car today, but unfortunately you know it will happen.

I took B out in the car today, had to blast the air con for a good 10 mins before the car was cool enough to get in.

For the first time ever she was allowed to sit on OHs knee in the front with her head out of the window.

The river was crammed with dogs (including B, dirty dog), I think everyone chose to walk near the water for a reason!

Car parked in the shade at 4pm. Left for two and a half hours.
The internal thermometer read 42 degree's when we got in to go home.

Did a load of washing today (student who'd put it off for a while! :p). Hung it out on the line, and it was all dry 2 hours later!
Blooming brilliant!!

Hence the delights of a crate. I can always stick the crate in the barn if its too hot but tend to try to go up when its cooler for both mine, the horses AND the dogs benefit.

But even at 4.00 yesterday - we had a brief (20 minutes) walk through the fields, rather low key chasing the ball and both necked a full bowl of water back at the yard and showed no inclination to do any more! even stood still to be have their stomachs soaked to cool off (staffies have hairless tummies!)
