This is the mare we bought after we sold Biggles.

Dolly had been a brood mare for a number of years and she had not taken the last time - and had been a little under weather.

Jenny was offered the chance to work with her in January when Biggles was off work with a foot abscess. We had no intention of buying her - she wasn't for sale at that time - but it was a chance for Jenny to work with a different horse.

Even when we sold Biggles we started by travelling up and down the country looking at horses. Then Jenny's instructor offered to sell us Dolly and as Jenny had been working with her.

Here she is when Jenny first met her - straight from the field

She looks in wonderful shape, just goes to show how much a horse can change with different work and time etc, you must be very pleased with her

Wow she has changed! Looks like a lovely horse. It's good to see light at the end of the tunnel... the mare i have just taken onto ride has a huge belly! Bit similar to the first two pics. But i can see that on your mare it has shrunk down alot now. Any tips? xx
 
Thank you all for your lovely comments - I know Jenny will be thrilled

I am very proud of her - she has done a wonderful job - with a lot of support from her instructor.

She has worked hard and consistently and she has begun to really bond with her. They are taking it slowly - hence just a low clear round to get her out and about.

For those who asked Biggles has gone out into the field today for the first day - he was very very pleased to be out as he was looking longingly at the field when Jenny walked him out in hand yesterday.

I spoke to the RSPCA yesterday and they confirmed that they had put an improvement order on him with the previous owners and that they had insisted they got a vet out - which they didn't do.

She said she had taken photos and thought he was extremely poor and not the worst she had seen but very bad. He is eating well and getting lots of TLC and hopefully a month out in the field with lots of hay and feed will see him begin to improve.
 
Thank you for your kind words everyone. I have to say I didn't really want to buy her (I am very shallow and didn't think she was pretty enough). However, Jenny has proved me wrong and she really is a beautiful mare.

I have just had a look at her breeding. Sire is Ontario (Dutch Warmblood) Dam was called Butty (how unfortunate) and Dam's sire was King of Diamonds.

I remember being told that it's the Sire's bloodlines that count - but I am sure that someone who know what they are talking about can correct me.
