Just to lighten your night - sister stuck is stable for 2 hrs

Yes I have had the wind blow the door shut and the kick bolt drop doing late night checks, fortunately I had the shavings fork and managed to release it but very fiddly as inside the stable was lit and outside was dark so I could not see what I was doing.

i have a wicked dog with a wicked sense of humour that often manages to shut the bottom bolt but i manage to climb out happens about 1 or 2 a week!

I walked past my feed room and saw the bolt was undone, I tut-tutted and shut it, went up the house and thought no more. But friend's daughter had come up to ride and was in there changing her boots, she was so scared of me that she rang her mum who was back at home after dropping her off, and got her mum to come up and let her out and it took about 30 mins.

I know I am bossy, but I had no idea I was THAT scary to children!

Have done that a few times, well more it was people accidentally doing the kickbolt when i've been in there and leaving before i realised.. Have got good at climbing over now though, although doesnt help when you're half way over and your lovely little mare tries to help by nudging you and making you nearly fall off the other side:p:D
2 hours though, your poor sister!

I got stuck in my IW trailer once. I'd loaded my 2 horses with the top door closed & then went back in the jockey door to check I'd tied them up properly. The jockey door slammed behind me and somehow jammed itself shut, so I was completely stuck in there.

I don't know how I did it but I eventually managed to crawl underneath one horse and then get up over the tail ramp. Luckily my girls are good natured because there wasn't much room and I had to use one as something to lean on to help me scrabble out.

I'm not very athletic at the best of times so it took me quite a while and once I'd managed to get my legs over the back ramp I fell out like a sack of s**t :D

I feel sorry for your sister was did do a good job of cheering me up. lol.

I have a dog who has a habbit of catching the kick bolt and locking me in the stable. Happens most days so I know try and get him to come and sit quietly by the door so I can keep an eye on him.

Last night I dashed away from the yard early for some well earned drinks with friends, leaving my sister to finish up. She has snapped the lower and upper rotational muscles in one shoulder so only really has the use of one arm and she decided to give the horse a quick brush before heading home. The YO is on holiday and everyone else had left so she gave the horse a quick 10 minute brush then tried to get out but the kick bolt had fallen shut, and she couldnt climb over the stable door with only one arm! She rang me but I was miles away and couldnt drive by that time, and could really only laugh, and she then started the ring around of friends closest to the yard but no one answered. She eventually rang her boyfriend who lives 20 miles away who rescued her 1.5 hrs later at half past eight. The horse was immaculate by that time! Any one else managed to do this?

Sorry, but I really did laugh out loud at this!

The kickover shut on me only yesterday but I was able to nip over the door. I did spend a moment or two trying to get my JRT to operate it for me, but she just pinged up and down nowhere near it!

I did once lock myself in the back of my lorry and had to climb on the tack locker and shout for help to our new next-door neighbour. I was very lucky on this occasion as they are NEVER in!
