Have been recommended the JTN. They will mainly be used for general riding but I'm hopefully doing a dressage comp in june and will need something to wear. I can't afford to spent more than £50.

Question is I've seen some people say they're too clumpy for competitions? So what else could I go for? I really would prefer something as flat over the top as possible (not the dressage style ones) and obviously cheaper then better (poor student).

Otherwise, if these will be ok, does anyone know what the size is like? I'm a size 7 generally but wide-ish feet so certain shoes I have to buy an 8...

I'd also like to know...I need some cheap boots for everyday.

You could also try the Just Toggs Essentials long boots; they have a more traditional look and would be more suitable for competitions. Mine did eventually crack but it took a year of hard wear (including round the yard). They come up quite roomy.

Thank you for the reply, they were the other option but I have a friend who says she much prefers riding in her Nevadas :D Glad to hear they're roomy though, should be ok with a 7 :D
 
Have you looked at Saxon Equileather boots? Good price, two quite traditional styles, but not leather if that matters...
 
I have, and I think I actually prefer those to the JT riding boots. I think the nevadas are a little too clumpy. The Saxons are a little more difficult to source (I'm looking for jodhs and cream gloves too on a budget!)
 
I did have a look at those, but am slightly put off by how dressage styled they are and that they are a little more expensive :o (plus they're not so easy to come buy on the regular sale websites) These boots won't be used for day-to-day use, most likely I'll buy some more jodhpur boots and chaps, so don't want to spend too much. Maybe be for showing too so the flatter they are across the top the better. Have read the Saxon equileathers are very poor so they're out of the question :p
