Posted about a 15hh mare i bought yesterday, she has been bitted, lunged and is great with traffic and very quiet and good, BUT she looks a real baby still. Should I simply tunr her away til next spring and let her grow and mature in peace, or break her now, or just keep playing/doing bits of groundwork with her daily til I break her next year....or something else? I know you guys are experts so appreciate any advice xx

Another for daily handling. With our 3yo this is all we are doing but sometimes when grooming popping a roller on and walking her around the yard a few times so that she is used to the feeling of being girthed up. She takes it all in her stride but tempting as it is we don;t do more until next year though largely in our case as her intended rider needs to grow, too!

I broke my youngster as a 4 year old at 3 I did leading wearing a roller a little longlining and spook busting then started in earnest when he was 4
He is now 5 and hasn't put a foot wrong
Steady and slowly there is no hurry in my mind

i'd leave her until October/November and then look at doing another few weeks work and possibly backing if she looks ready then.

otherwise leave til next spring.
