I know you will all be fed up of my posts on my mare, the one with fetlock arthritis but not as fed up as i am!
It seemed to be all sorted she was remidicated and on her next trot up was a pain- very happy and cheeky. All looked good get back to riding, just short walks. She pratted about in the field as i was about to get her in which of course has aggravated whatever it is. Not hopping lame (hate that saying) but uncomfy on that leg again.
Worried that it is a tear on the tendon just not sure as she has the arthritis in similar área but the slight swelling just won't go down Any further. Might have to keep her in again until vet comes back.

Any experiences on tendon tears? Esp if they have arthritis too. Vet mentioned something about a possible manaker tear!!?? No idea how to spell or if i heard it truly right!
Just having a moan i guess just want her sound so we can go mooching. :-(

Cold water and lots of it, 20 minutes 3 times a day should help. I would
restrict movement to maybe a small paddock and keep a close eye

Hi. My mare tore her Manica Flexor. She didnt come sound after box rest and ended up having surgery. In total it was 7 months box rest then bought back into work slowly and now she is back in full work and ridden/ excercised daily. In fact last werk she had a Thermal Image scan done and was told thst you couldnt evrn trll she had had surgery. Shes got no scar tissue or anything and has 4 perfectly clean limbs. I was really pleased and it put my mind at ease knowing she was fully recovered and evetything had healed well.

Good luck to your mare. Keep us updated on how she is.

Thank you at least u know how to spell it now! My vet did say it wpuld be treatable in a way i hope it is that d we spend time getting it sorted table it just be her changes although she may need an arthroscopy in the future. Never just straight forward is it!?

My mare had surgery last Sept for lesion on the superficial flexor tendon where they then discovered the manica flexor was also torn. The symptoms before hand were tripping and then the very swollen tendon due to the lesion. She did 6 months box rest and also needed steroid injection to reduce swelling. She is now out 24/7 and happy! She looks a bit stiff on it but is happily charging around. There still is some swelling but vet isn't too concerned and will rescan next week. I have made the decision to retire her and don't want to risk her reinjuring.
