I was going to have my pony put to sleep tomorrow (aged 26) - she's been on loan for the last three years and is now feeling her age, a bit arthritic and can't be ridden (due to one to many injuries) a rubbish field companion (goes through fences if separated from whom ever she has budded up (and has got worse as she's got more aged and contrary - got vet bills to prove it) and only has to look at a blade of grass and becomes a baby elephant and the only way ever been able to properly control her weight is by riding her I was doing the responsible thing as she really is hard work and the biggest witch of a pony ever!
Anyway, the crem man called this morning as his power has gone down in the rain and wind so wanted to postpone I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry as have got myself into a proper state about it all saying goodbye after 17 years was not going to be easy! However, this morning a lady who I used to hack with completely out of the blue offered me some proper pony managed grazing (two mins from my house) she has a pony and donkey (the donkey goes nowhere so my pony will never be left on her own. I'm feeling quite happy now, my dear, witch of a pony who has caused me so much grief over the years but so much happiness gets to have a retirement, which I never thought would be possible. Just makes you realise there are some proper lovely people out there!
