i commented to someone on my yard that my new gelding was a little stubborn in picking up his feet (he's a really sweet, gentle chap). he does lift them, but in his own time (i think it may be a balance issue), she told me to bite him on the knee! i have no intension of doing this but wondered what you all thought.

she also used to put her fingers up my old pony's nostrils when he was naughty which i felt was uncalled for.

now i'm worried she might tease the new chap and he'll get ruined, he's sooo sweet at the moment. i'm probably worrying about nothing but cant help being an overprotective mum

lock her up and throw away the key! Tell her to keep out of his way she has some extremly unlikeable habbits which will upset your horse! Can you ask YO to keep an eye on her!

thought about that, will ask yo to see what she thinks. my oh recons i'm being paranoid but i usually find my gut instinct is right. she has 2 horses of her own so not sure why she has time to bother mine although she doesn't ride hers only lunges

sorry but I cant stop laughing ! just had this image of someone trying to pick up a horses leg and also trying to bite its knee and then when that fails sticking their fingers up its nose. I think the horse may just bite her back ! she needs certifying ! sorry still laughing who was her last mentor, she should write a comedy book !

SHE CANT BE SERIOUS.

Why would you ask YO what she thinks? It's your horse, noone should mess with it uninvited - I would go APE if anyone did with my horse (good intentions and friend aside).

glad it's not just me then, my last horse had to go back due to aggression, she's more experienced than me so don't like to say too much but i've always been gentle and reassuring towards horses and it seemed bizzarre management to start biting them!!!

If you are having trouble with picking his feet up, gently squeeze his chestnuts and click at the same time.
Biting a horses knee indeed!!

good will keep my teeth free of mud and continue with the fetlock tickling which seems to work

might give his chestnuts a squeeze too and see if helps

anyone else got odd people at their yard? mine is a very small place (just 4 horses/ponies), yo nice though and very sensible

yup - our yards a bit bigger than yours but we have a nutter too, feeds her horse 2 scoops of rolled oats per feed then wonders why he's a wee bit forward going... was riding him in a 4 inch bit until someone actually swapped it for the correct size for her - she usually turnes up at the yard drunk and then starts ordering everyone about and telling them how to handle their horses or ride.... she was wandering about last wek telling everyone she was bringing a grand in cash to the yard and buying one of my horses off me, she got told where to go.....!

She sounds a bit gone in the head to me! Are you sure it wasn’t a wind up????

Goad if I tried to bit Bodey’s or Blacks knee I would just end up with a mouthful of hair, ummm, nice!

she's quite serious and i just give her surprised looks
my old pony (who was a serious biter) had odd scratches down his muzzle at one point which seemed only to match a metal curry comb but i hoped it was just caused by the tiny bramble patch in the field at the time
quite worried now

hmm so you bite his knee, he knees you in the face and breaks your nose, what a result!

keep the strange woman away from your horse!!If I were you I woudl actually tell her to stay away from my horses, its people like her who ruin them.

Whatever floats her boat!!!
Wouldn't be letting her do that to my horse.

That's certainly made me laugh and maybe someone should try the same with her, mind you sticking your fingers up her nose and a bite on the knee might be a bit much, she's completely barking!!!!!
