I have the insurance lady coming tomorrow and so I have been getting togther postmorton results in writting and email from my verts to clarify i called them on the day my boy died ect and found out today that no only did my boy have a twisted gut but that he had some kind of tumor thing coming off his interstines which wrapped around his stomache causing it to become twisted.

Anyway am ment to be getting my mare this week but that was depending on the insurance money coming through as I didnt wanna have to borrow from my dad if not I cant get her this week and will have to pay the yard shes at full livery every week untill i bring her home (which sucks beacuse I cant really affrord it)
Now am worried that all is going to go wrong and that my insurance will find some way not to pay out and Ill loose this horse that I have completly fallen in love with and ill end up with nothing!
but after everything thats happened with my last boy conducting a tumor and getting into debt paying for treatment and then having a bad break up so had to move home and then loosing my boy I think I deserve for something to go right for a change. Fingers crossed, i want my mare this week shell give me something to lookj forward to and concentrate on.
soprry for winge but had to get it all out!

no experience of there reputation so I cant help you Im sorry.

I never persued death with Ted. I knew i wouldnt get it. And to be honest, id lost Ted, a close friend to cancer and Id had an op on ma Jaw with a GA and was in no frame of mind to fight it.

Good luck hun. I wish you well.
Let us know how you get on.

Lou x

oh I see. I have herd that some companies are funny about anything to do with Cholic but he wasnt an old horse.
I am just one of these ppl who always seems to end up with bad luck!

Indeed they were with me to a few years back when my boy got his tumor but these new ppl Stoneways so far have been very quick on the mark and helpfull, they are a smallish company and they ususally tend to be the best. If they are good to me then obviously ill ensure my new horse with them to.
but if they were't going to pay out would they send an acessor out to see me at home?

Were there specific exclusions on your policy? Could the vet determine a cause of death? If I remember rightly your horse just died didn't he? I cannot see there being an issue unless there had been previous colic/tumour problems and these were excluded from your policy. However, even if they were, unless they were determined as the cause of death an insurance company would struggle not to settle your claim.

Stoneways are a reputable company so I can't see you would need to have cause for concern.

Thank you Lady T for that I was hoping someone would say somthing like that.
yes Mr Maxamillion died from a twisted gut caused by pendulated Lipoma, about 15feet. Which I believe is a tumor like thing that grows of the intestines if I read it correctly.
He was only insured for 2k which I suppose to them isnt that much.(thats what my dad said anyway)
Stoneways have been very nice and helofully and quick in responce and they know the cause of death so if this was a problem then they would of told me over the phone

Sorry you are having a rough time, but chin up, it can only improve

As long as you have got the post mortem and relevant paperwork from the vets you should be fine. Just make sure you have the horses passport etc for when the loss adjuster comes round (together with proof of ownership and some pics) and you should be fine. Is it an adjuster from Stoneways or have they appointed an external company?

Fwiw, I have adjusted some claims for Stoneways (mainly trailers tho but did one loss of horse) and as long as everything is in order and you are within the terms of the policy (i.e you didn't insure the horse just before or during the colic) they are happy to pay out - I very much doubt you will get the payout for next week tho as it ofetn takes a few weeks for all the reports etc to be processed

The reason they are sending someone out to you is thanks to the ever increasing group of unscrupulous owners who are happy to make fraudulent claims (i.e the horse never existed/claiming for a different horse which wasn't insured under the policy of one that was etc or have taken out insurance after the horse has become ill) so Insurance companies are now starting to investigate ALL claims. So don't worry about the visit.

Also, make sure you can justify the amount you are claiming for, such as proof of purchase price as they wil sometimes try to reduce the amount they pay. Although this usually happens when people try to insure horses that haven't done anything for about 10k when they are only worth 2k!

Oops sorry, just read your post above - you will be fine with the amount you are claiming!!

they have appointed an external person to see me.but as for pictures ill prob bored her to death with all my albums and framed copies ect lol.
Thank you so so much for your reasurrance x

dont get me wrong, insurance companies will always try and get out of paying - that's their business really, i didnt pursue compensation for loosing my mare (technically she could have stayed alive, but on painkillers for the rest of her life, and in a lot of pain if the painkillers were missed - she didnt qualify for BEVA guidlines for humane destruction etc etc,) however, from what you have said, it isnt like you have had a long ongoing issue you have been claiming for, and like you say the sum he was insured for shouldnt really be an issue for them. now if he was insured for 15k you

Best of luck, and i'm really sorry for your loss - hope you get the new one when you want.

Thank you me to am hoping to save me £230 of full livery for 2 weeks waiting for the money to come through my dad will help me out a little, well see.
I dont know if its bad or not but my new mare is so very simlar to my boy and shell be in his stable to so hell always be around hopefully giving his blessing x

No worries
