There is a campaign fronted by Joanna Lumley, that is campaigning for all Gurkhas to be allowed to live in Britain if they choose. All those that have retired post 1997 are allowed, those that retired before that are not.Our High Court says the government is wrong and must allow them. The government has changed all the goals posts so that most Gurkhas will not qualify. They have had to serve for 20 years. Most are not allowed to serve more than 15.All commonwealth soldiers only have to serve for 5 years. These are people that have put their LIVES on the line for Britain.2 were killed recently in Afganistan.Go to the petition Justice for Gurkhas and sign the petition PLEASE>

Yes we should support them. During the second world war my father was a Captain in Second Gurkha Rifles - the Sirmoor Regiment.

The Nepalise soldiers were loyal and brave. He loved his time out in India.

Signed.

When you consider the huge quantities of people entering this country through the back door and claiming Human RIghts to allow them to stay, and we just let them because we're too frightened to throw them out, it makes me utterly sick to see this pathetic apology for a Government back track on its promise to care for the soldiers and their families who have fought and died on our behalf.

I was utterly ashamed and sickened when the ruling came thorugh this week. What an appaling way to treat people who have done so much for our country.

Signed......

Same way we treated the enterpreteurs we used in Bosnia and Iraq promising them assylum in this country after they had helped us. We then have refused thier applications leaving them where they are in grave danger. Is absolutely disgusting...

Signed.

I think it's appalling that people who have done so much for this country aren't allowed to live here, while the government continues to entertain a load of spongers, chavs and general lazy b*stards just because they happen to be British.

And the brilliant news is that the shameful and cowardly bill that the government was proposing was soundly defeated in the commons - our "esteemed" PM's first commons defeat. Well done to all those MPs who voted with their conscience and in favour of justice for the Gurkhas. Shame on the government and the Labour party.

Couldn't agree more. We met a number of Gurkhas over a period of a few years 5-10 years ago: we had a Filipina nanny who became friendly with the ones stationed at Brecon and they were in and out of our house at weekends. They were, to a man, polite, friendly, thoughtful, I can't summon enough adjectives. One day one of the cars had a puncture parked outside the house - the Gurkhas rushed out and practically manhandled the wrench out of OH's hand, changed the wheel in about a nano-second

They were fantastic cooks too, making wonderful Nepalese curries (not that hot but incredibly fragrant). One of them even gave us a "kukri" (sp??) knife which we still have and treasure.

This country should welcome these brave, remarkable men and their families, they will only enhance our Nation.

I gress 100% The Ghurkas are the best. Great people and a total asset to our country. I support their plea to have the right to live here in the UK.
