As title pretty much.

Have been offered a Kan by a friend for very few £££ as she is nolonger eventing/jumping. Its been used once. However I'm unsure on the sizing front and googling has confused me further. Unfortunately she lives a good few hours away so unable to try it on and if I don't want it then she has someone else interested so don't want to keep her waiting.

So what size do you have and how does this compare to your dress size? Also can someone explain the "T" part of the sizing e.g. what back length does this actually measure up as? And does it alter other measurements?

Looking on the Kan website I think I'd be a small except wait measurement comes up nearer medium (I have no waist, am straight up and down!). I'm 5'5 just (but more leg than torso), 34-36B/C (varies depending on manufacturer) bra size, 30in waist.

Help please :)

ETA: I can usually fit into ladies size 10 tops but find size 12 fit better/more comfy (10's come up tight) but am usually nearer a 10 on the bottom half - sometimes need a 12...

lucky you getting a cheap one, they're great bits of kit.
i think they are pretty much fitted on your normal upper-half dress size.
i am a size 10 on top (34" chest, 27" waist) but with broad shoulders, and I have a size 12 Kan which fits perfectly. (B/C cup fwiw, but I have the flatter shaped Kan and it is very comfy. most of them are the flatter shape iirc) I'd be the same size as you on top I think, just longer in the torso (i'm 5'10") so I'd guess you'd need a 12 but with shorter back panel.
i know that it's important that the curved bit in the back corresponds exactly to your own curve and length of back.
i think i'd always go for the size slightly bigger of the two if you're unsure though, I know someone who insisted on getting the smaller size and really struggles to get into hers, it ends up being another person's job to do the zip up as she squeezes herself into it, which it shouldn't be!
re: length - i cut mine down a bit because i use it for backing youngsters and hacking them so i'm sitting up in the saddle a lot, for xc i'd have had it a bit longer because i'd be out of the saddle much more.
you could email Wendy and ask for advice, she's super-helpful.

Thankyou. My main concern is my waist as it simply doesn't taper in - (hips are 35", waist is 30", underbust is 32.5", fullest part of bust is 35"....) - is there "give" in the Kan to allow for this or is it totally rigid?

Length wise: nape of neck to level of belly button on back is 15"

Not sure how this translates to measurements? Especially the T measurement (this is what my friend has).

Don't feel I can contact Wendy as not buying from her or at full price, seems a bit cheeky??

I think T is just indicative of a short back Kan...

I wear a T2 with the back cut down a little bit - I'm 5', size 10 in winter, size 8 in summer.

I think i must be an odd shape! I'm 5'8, size 10 and in a T2 Kan which is the short back one. I'm more long legged than bodied though and the lady who goes round the shows with the Kans measured me for it and it fits fine.

I rate them, lucky you getting one cheap as they're fairly pricey! My OH wanted one so i asked what cup size he was! He didn't realize they only made them for women!!! :D

Maia, the sides overlap and slide over each other as you expand your chest to breathe, so there is definitely 'give', it isn't rigid at all. the shaped panels themselves are rigid (and hence fantastic at diverting force around the body) but because they overlap it moves with you - e.g. i can take a big deep breath really easily.
if you like, pm me & i'll give you Wendy's email addy. tbh i don't think she'd mind helping you with the fit at all, she wants everyone who has one to be totally comfortable in it.

Thankyou F&F - out of interest what waist and bust size are you?

Kerilli, thankyou for the offer. I've sent Kan a message via FB so hopefully will hear back soon.

If anyone else would be kind enought to let me know what size they have and what dress size they are in the mean time I would be very grateful :)

I'm a size 8, 5"4ft and a size 2 kan- she had to cut it somewhere though to fit- cant remember exactly where, think it was off the back and sides! They are fabulous bps, really comfy and breathable. I used to have a rodney powell and after the xc the first thing I'd do was unzip my body protector as it was so uncomfy, but with the kan I often find I still have it on when I've dealt with the horse and am walking over to the scoreboards!

No I am 5'8" and went for the short one too as my length is in my legs rather than back. I tried a friends in T4 and knew I couldn't ride in a longer one so also bought a T4 - I'm generally a 14 top and 36D/DD. On the website it actually says people of 5'7 or 5'8" may be short or long back and to check back length. Wendy checked fit of mine when I saw her at Stafford BE last year and agreed short was right choice though on first looking at me she'd have said long
