are they really worth it??
Compared to most other protectors they are pretty expensive.:) In your opinion do you think they are worth it? Do they last longer than most body protectors due to the different foam in them?

Any info greatly received :)

Yes they are imo :) More comfortable, better protection than other makes, and the foam doesn't degrade like in other makes. Also very personal customer care from Wendy (don't know if she is still offering a discount for people who were recommended them on here, but if you decide to ring her up, you may as well mention it!). She will also customise the fit for you if necessary.

I tried on several while at Badminton, Racesafe and Rodney Powell amongst others, but the Kanteq was by far the most comfortable.

Once I added the cost of the shoulders on to the others the difference in price wasn't as noticeable...

I belive she works for/owns/runs Kanteq, but I could be wrong :)

Wendy is the designer of the body protector, lovely lady. Kan bps and fantstic and you will not find another bp like them, they are the only bd to use that material and have the design. I have one and I wouldnt XC with out it. They are deerer than your average bp but how much is your spine worth? you can fall of in this and not bruise and be back competing then next day rather than brusing a few bones and be sore for a week,

Would love to try one on really but no where that close to me stocks them
Do they flex with you then? as the material looks quite hard:confused:
thanks:)

Wendy takes her trade stand around the shows, she often wears one of her body protectors all day, so they must be fairly comfortable

They may be slightly pricier than others, however, you don't need to replace them after a fall/ two or three years, as the foam does not degrade as happens with some other bp's. Jeanette Brakewell endorses them, as does Nicola Wilson. Jeanette certainly, and publicly, states she has no need of "anything else" ;) Everyone I know who wears one,is quite enamoured - the most comfortable BP they have ever worn. One friend in particular ordered one on the Friday, by telephoning Wendy direct, and it was delivered 8am Saturday! Certainly, I have seen riders finish xc, do boots, studs, wash off and then say "Oh, suppose I'd better take bp off!".........so it must be comfortable.

Phone number taken from Website - ring Wendy! (she is possibly en route from Burghley to Blenheim at the mo', but leave her a message, she is lovely!)

Totally agree with everything said on here, they are much more comfortable and they feel safer and considering how robust they are I dont think they are comparably much more expensive....

They dont flex with you because the foam is protective but it doesnt need to flex with you because it fits so well

I called the office and got fitted over the phone (they shortened mine for me)

and it was perfect. Wendy is really friendly and i know she actually stopped at my friend's livery yard to fit her and her friend, so if you are interested you can always call them and see what they say and see if wendy will be near by for a fitting....i think she just dropped in on the way to a show or something

I got one in may, after not having had a fall in about 6 years I thought I was due one soon!! How right was I, since then I have had 2 pretty spectacular falls. The first one I was xc schooling a youngster who tried to turn away from a small drop to end up reversing off the side of the bank off a 5ft drop with a ditch. He fell backwards down on top of me. Luckily it was in slow motion and we were both fine. Btw a point air would have done nothing for me as I didn't really come away from him. Other fall was off my experienced horse, we were on our way to a good clear over a strong xc track which had been causing a lot of problems and looking a first place finish when he spooked going around a sharp corner to the second last and I literally went flying at speed over his shoulder as it was so unexpected- I don't even know what he spooked at. I landed very heavily and not sure what happened after that as I banged my head very hard. My hat and back protector were plastered with mud and grass so must've been a right toss. Obviously had a headache (have replaced my hat!) but the rest of me was totally fine. I was unsure about spending the money on a kanteq but it has been totally worth it with those two falls as I'm sure the outcome of each would have been much worse without it, so I recommend them to anyone.

Is there a list of which events she is attending?:)

Ring Wendy and see if she is anywhere near you. Otherwise she will send you out two BPs in different sizes for you to try, and if you like you keep one and send the other back. Honestly, the customer care is like nothing you have ever experienced before :) so don't be afraid to call her :) and remember to tell her about HHO (she is used to me and Kerilli telling people how good Kans are lol:D)

Sister has one and is very pleased with it. She has been bucked off her mare twice this year on the road and the only injury she has had was to her neck, where the bp did not cover. I think she would have had a lot more bruising without it.

Ok will give her a call:) think i convinced OH that I need one:D
He did say how much  lol:D but then I pointed out that surely my life is worth more :D;)

My daughter is a nightmare to fit for BP, rang Wendy and she sorted it out without a problem. Daughter was able to visit her at the trade stand to collect it and confirm fit. She loves it.
I now regret purchasing my Airowear 2 yrs ago, tried on the Kan and couldn't really justify the price, but in hind sight it was a mistake as the Airowear will need replacing quite soon. I will be buying a Kan next time,

These BPs are wonderfull I first came across them the firts year she bought them out and I tried one on and I was amazed how well I could move in it. The material like you say appears to be hard and solid which it is and once you have it on for a few mins you forget its there I can honestly say that if i was unfortunate to fall of in this BP and my horse ran off it would give me enough move ment to get up and run after my horse if need be.

Some BP's I actually feel less confident in beacuse i do not feel that I can move all that well across country and jumping but this is a real confidence booster. See where they are next and go try. She is at Bleinham next I think
