Looking at the other horses on the web site, she looks the nicest of the bunch. Always be cautious about dealers, and although it is nice to have your own vet, sometimes it is not practical if the horse is a long way from your home. Vets are paid to give you an unbiased opinion about the horse they are vetting so it should not matter if it is a local vet, in fact if the local vet knows about the dealer, they might even warn you off them if they are bad news.

Kate isnt that far away from me and i have heard both good and bad stories BUT if i was looking for a horse i would happily go there for a look.
As long as you are sensible you should do ok.
As an example my friend bought a horse from kate in July last year.
He was described as rising 4.We guessed from this he would be 4 in august.september.When she got his passport he was actually only 3 years and 2months having been born in the May.It didnt affect her but its worth asking for a look at the passport.
I know a certain local vets used to refuse to go to Kates (and kate refused to have them) because of a previous disagreement but im not sure if this is still the case.
I would take my oen vet though and not one she recomends but she does get in nice horses if you know what yo are doing, i think it would be worth taking a knowledgable friend too just as another pair of eyes.
Good Luck - the mare looks lovely

I am not one for going to anyone who looks like a dealer.... And from the site it does scream dealer......

View it and if you like the horse vert first before putting money down!

I personally wouldnt buy from her.

I have got a friend who did get a lovely genuine horse from her and he is amazing ie temp and potential.

I hack past her yard regularly so she is very close to me. Just remember to take a knowledgable friend with you and make it clear what your looking for.

Hi all,
Kate Bunting here, thought i may aswel join in the topic discussing me and my business.
Buying and selling horses is my business, i am a horse dealer and i am proud to be as such.
I often check the web to see what is happening out there, and i am glad i have joined this discussion, i hope you all dont mind.
If anyone has got any questions or queries about me or my business, please feel free to ask and i will be more than happy to answer any questions.
For those who have previously bought from myself. - thank you very much for the business and i truely hope you are happy with the horses!
For those who have not and said they would not buy from me, - i feel that is unfair, as many of you judge me, yet have never delt with me and know me or how my business works.

I import quality horses from all over Europe and Ireland, and many of them have gone on to great success, some have simply gone to enjoy hacking and leisure riding homes, many gone to riding club homes, and some gone to high level competition homes, "Rayef" partnered by Laura Collett won individual and team gold at the european championships in eventing last year, i imported that horse from the continent to name but a few.
Yes, there are many a rouge horse dealer out there, but i am not one of them.
I treat every horse that comes in to my yard as if they were my own private horse, and each and everyone is exactly described when sold - i am simply making a living as each of you do.
I am very passionate about my business, and am very defensive of every horse i sell, purely because i would never of paid good money for them, imported them at a cost and put my reputable name to any of the horses if they were not good quality sound horses.

To ISH_Mad, thank you for your kind, honest comments, and i would love to know which horse you bought from me?

To JoJo Eventer - very unkind posts. when i treated you very well, when you purchased the horse you wanted.

To NiknKia - i am yet to meet you hacking past my yard, but please feel free to pop in.

Please do ask any questions which you would like answers to.
Regards,
Kate Bunting

but 1 out of 6 horses isnt a good ratio.

I presume out of those 6 u refer to in two threads will include my own. Don’t class it wise to bad mouth others peoples horses in public and class them as unsuitable and not sound in body or mind and think its a way round by not naming them.

I can say as the owner 2 horses from kate that they are sound in body and mind and I haven’t had an issue with them except baby growing up general normal horsey issues – sadly an injury of soft tissue with one which has nothing to do with the dealer.

Kate has been open and available for any discussion I wanted.

The horses that are unsuitable and not sound in body or mind are pictured below. I'm more then happy with them.

I have heard that she passports them herself so there fore how are you to know that its genuine??

[/ QUOTE ]

I've heard this too which would make me very wary especially as I know of one horse that has gone through her and managed to lose it's passport as well as losing a good few years of it's age too!!

I can only speak as I find. The horse which we purchased from Kate Bunting came with his Irish passport, it was not issued by Kate. She went out of her way to help us be sure we had made the right purchase for us and we have nothing but praise for the way that she conducted herself. As stated on a different thread, more importantly still she sold us a fabulous horse who we love to bits.

My friend went try a couple of horses with her.

Horses were nice enough, but not exactly as described - Kate's idea of quite and bombproof didn't match my friends idea of quiet and bombproof! Lovely competition type horses, but less happy hacker types. If I was looking for a serious competition horse with potential, I'd def go for a look. If I was looking for a happy hacker type, I'd look else where.
