What does anyone think of Jordon riding at HOYS? Horse and Hound keep publishing storeys about her... Who cares???
I think she only rides at Prelim and in all the papers they think she will be a future Olympic competitor.. Its good that she rides and she has a lovely horse and a great trainer.. Is it me or is she chaving the whole thing up?
I would rather read about Marry King or Monty Roberts someone who I could expire to???
I defiantly dont think she is worthy of riding at HOYS and its put me of having a ticket for the Friday.

That was quite moany but it gets on my nerves.. We all try so hard with our horses and will never get to ride any where like that... actually I am sounding very jealous

The papers print whatever they can to sell newspapers. If Katie Price has an opportunity to ride at HOYS in any capacity, good luck to her - she has more chance of that than riding in the next Olympics.

I really dislike Jordon .. I don't like the fact she's riding at HOYS nor do I like the fact she gets alot of publicity over riders that 'deserve' it ..

I agree that she's only riding at the lower levels and isn't that fantastic , its shocking
tongue.gif

But i'm not going to go out and buy her 'equestrian' range either
tongue.gif

Yes I am jealous .. not of her .. but of her horse and the oppurtunities that have been handed to her around horses

Do you mean "aspire" to, or do you really want to die at Monty Roberts feet?

I find the hype surrounding Katie Price fairly ridiculous. I have no interest in her, or her riding, and whilst she may appeal to some, to me she just comes across as rather chavvy. Good luck to her, she is certainly a great self-publicist, but as for her equestrian exploits, I have no interest whatsoever, and can think of far better people to watch at HOYS.

TBH you just sound jealous!!!..............Have you turned green yet????
grin.gif

I think she is well aware that she doesn't ride at the standard of those who are jumping at HOYs. However to her credit, she works hard and didn't she come 6th in her debut outing in a prelim @ Hickstead??? To be honest anything that being equestrianism to the fore is fine with me and lets face it she will be attracting a following that Mary King couldn't!!!
wink.gif

Personnally I'm not bothered, but then neither will I bother watching her or will I be rushing to buy her new range of stuff.

I think good for her, she obviously has more money to spend on nice horses and trainers etc than most people do, but who wouldnt if you could?! She has as much right as the next person to compete and she did do well at Hicksted.
She may even attract some much needed attention to the equestrian world.....

Since this is the 895th thread on the subject I suppose really I should pass it by, but can I just say that because you dislike something and find it distasteful ( I agree with the PP she is dull beyond belief and a makes the place look untidy) does not mean you are jealous.

I don't like spitting in the street either, but I promise it's not some well hidden desire to take part.

I actually really like Katie Price *runs for cover*

I think bringing the sport into the media (regardless of who the story is about) is a good thing.

Please don't throw rotten fruit at me! lol

I agree with you ISH_Lover and Ronniep well spotted Aspire is the right word.

With everyone who thought she did well at Hickstead her horse was a better standard then you would expect to see at Prelim. She should have won on that horse.

I also don't think the attention she gets will help the equestrian world as its still as popular as ever

Piebald... I really think Mary King attracts better people then Jordon would and people who love eventing would go to see Mary rather then Jordon... Mary King is a great rider and someone to ''aspire'' to.

I just don't think she belongs in the main arena its completely chav. I just hope they haven't got rid of a traditional great act for her Pre lim attempt

Good luck to her she earnt what she has got (even if it was in a way most of us wouldn't want to earn a living).

Can't see the comparison to spitting, but whatever floats your boat!!!

Maybe it is jealousy but there are worthier people to ride at HOYS instead of her.

Sorry to have upset you Piebald you seem to be a big fan.. I am sure your horse will look lovely in matching pink accessories and a pink fluffy bridle for the Katie Price Equestrian range.

I think she is trying desparately to re invent herself, as who/what exactly I don't know but it just ain't working for me.

She is who she is and no amount of hair dye, fake tan or plastic surgery will change it. I just can't find it in myself to have any respect for her regardless of how she made her fortune, how hard she allegedly 'works' or what a wonderful mother she is. Big deal, thousands of folk have disabled kids and manage very well without any recognition for it.

Now a woman like say Ellen McArthur I can wholeheartedly look up to even though she's been successful in a different sport but KP? Nah!

Now your talking Ellen is great!!!

I say KP keep your expensive tat out of what once was respectable ''Derby House'' and keep out of ''HOYS'' unless you deserve to be there and qualify like the rest of us have to.

Being snobby about her is exactly why its good for Equestrian to have a Katie Price. She is seen as normal and if she likes horses then it can hardly be posh and anyone could have access to them.
The fact that she has chosen dressage which is percieved as a dull sport with posh people in top hats is all the better. If 100 more people come to HOYs who would not normally then fantastic and even better if they spend money and learn to ride.

Totally off topic, but a friend of my son who teaches at a not very well respected school in Brighton has a pupil called Chelsea Pollard, an excellent name I think, but I may have spelled it wrong.

Leave Kate alone! She has worked damned hard for what she has got, is a great mother, especially to her severly disabled son and she is making the most of what she has created.... If you want oportunities like kate go out and create them for yourself, she has hardly had anything handed on a plate!

Why is it better to have more people riding? or Why is Katie Price a good ambassador for this?

More people riding is pretty obvious!

Katie Price though someone I do not particularly aspire to is a media darling and riding for far too long has been on the backburner of public conciousness. I am fully supportive of anyone or anything that brings equestrian to the forefront of the publics minds. It is no coincidence that Noel Edmonds was chosen to be BHS President. He is a known name in the media as well as his interest in horses.

It's not about whether she is 'worthy' or not. She is promoting equestrian sport to people that otherwise wouldn't take the time to watch. I can't say I dislike her or like her, but surely this is good for equestrianism.

But she's not competing at HOYS, she hasn't taken away a place from someone who 'deserves' it more. She's just taking part in a masterclass with her trainer.
