The Racecourse Newbury will celebrate some of the season’s best Jump racing alongside the fantastic work of racehorse rehabilitation charity Greatwood on Saturday 2nd March. There will be two free tickets available to the day for any member of a British Equestrian federation discipline.

The raceday, sponsored by the charity will combine a day of racing and great equestrian entertainment, promising to be full of fun for all the family. Visitors can enjoy an exciting host of equestrian demonstrations including an interactive riding zone with pony rides and racegoers can even try their hand at being a jockey on the British Racing School mechanical racehorse!

The equestrian themed displays will take place prior to racing and will feature a flat work demonstration with event rider Laura Collett and the recently retired dual Gold Cup winner Kauto Star in his first public appearance before changing discipline. Laura will also be doing a Jumping master class on her Badminton horse with Yogi Breisner, World Class Performance Manager and Chef d'Equipe to the British Eventing team. There will also be an exclusive appearance from Deborah Criddle, Paralympic Gold and Silver Medallist in Dressage.

Stephen Higgins, Managing Director Racecourse and Events, commented:

“This will be great day out, filled with Equestrian family entertainment and exhilarating jJump racing. We’re delighted to welcome special guests Yogi Breisner and Deborah Criddle and proud to be supporting such a great cause.”

Yogi Breisner, World Class Performance Manager, commented:

“I’m delighted to be returning to Newbury to host a schooling session again as it gives racegoers such a great insight into what’s involved at the highest level in British Eventing. This year we have the extra highlight of seeing Kauto Star. He is a wonderful example of the versatility of the thoroughbred horse and the excellent job done within the racing industry of Great Britain. Kauto Star will demonstrate how naturally racehorses adapt to life after racing.”

Greatwood provides fulfilling futures for former racehorses and children and young people with special educational needs, through interactions in unique programmes of rehabilitation and education in a secure and caring environment.

Gates open at 11.30 am with the first race at 2pm. For more information and event updates visit http://www.racecoursenewbury.co.uk/...ets/Saturday-2-March-Greatwood-Equestrian-Day

Please come and have a fab day out- myself and other students at the Royal Agricultural College have put a lot of work into organising the displays and it is promising to be a fab day out! :D

Can't wait! Booked tickets specially.

Now all we need to do is lobby the powers that be to get Kauto, Denman and Neptune at Cheltenham together.

I saw a nice, if slightly blurry (cos he was moving at speed!) photo on Twitter at the weekend of Kauto and Laura jumping an upright in the indoor school, and he was making a lovely shape over the fence.

Oh crap!!!!!:mad::mad:

I live a mile from the racecourse and have free entry ticket (as we had our Xmas party there) but I have plans already for the 2nd :mad::cool:
