As title really, I just wondered what people think of them. Do you think they would be hot and sweaty? Memory foam mattresses can be a bit tropical but that could be my age. I just liked the thought of it conforming to my mares shape but I am not familiar with the make or material. Thanks (no room for a "please" in the title)

I recently ordered one of these as my horse was getting small rubs now we're doing a bit more ridden work.

Its a really nice girth, but unfortunately he still got a rub. To be fair he is a super sensitive, thin skinned arab.

I've just ordered a curved style girth to see if that will solve the problem.

Thanks for that. I might take a punt as she isn't overly sensitive. It was the quality and feel I wondered about so it is helpful to know it wasn't a cheap and nasty thing.

I read on here somewhere that the Mattes girths are great for sensitive horses. I tried a curved girth on my mare but it rubbed her (and she doesn't usually have a problem). It just didn't seem to distribute pressure evenly at all. The front edge was much more loose than the back even though the girth was designed for horses with a forward girth groove, which is what she has. it was the harry Dabbs one I tried - loads of people love them but I (and she) hated it.

The thing with memory foam is that the hotter it is the more it flattens, so that actually it gets to a point where it will be totally flat and not offering any mouding/shock absorbing abilities. There is some research about re. it not being the best for numnahs I think. Of course not all memory foam is equal either!

We got on well with the HD but a prolite did as you describe, and gaped up the sides. We are getting on better than I ever thought we would with a pro choice one though.

Thank you ester. that's a very good point about the heat. I wondered how hot it would be for the horse but I hadn't thought about it thinning out. Something else to worry about lol. The prolite I tried as worse than the HD. It must be her shape. Its a good job she is loved.

Thank you Puddleduck for that info. that looks exactly like the one I saw on ebay as a Kavalkade. It was about £10 or so more expensive but I am sure its the same girth. Good to know it is a nice girth. Thanks
