It's that time of year again where I need to renew my horse insurance, and the quote from KBIS is the cheapest so far. Just wondered what people's thoughts on them are.

I've been with AIMS for the last couple of years and had to make a claim, and they were very good and dealt with the whole thing very quickly. I'm not desperate to change insurance companies, but the cheaper quote looks quite tempting....

Any comments would be appreciated

Superb. Can't rate them highly enough. Paid out £1800 for my mare, striaght to the vets, no quibble, even though we never did get a diagnosis, and did not slap random exclusions on.

They also deal well with my anal behaviour when it comes to saving money - I refuse to insure my horse for eventing from October-March because, well, we can't event then and it is expensive! So every year I drop it down at renewal in October and up it in March, and they are fine with it!! Saves me a little bit each year.

KBIS are fantastic. My old boy was insured with them and they paid up (several times) without any problem. They are a smallish company and they are horsey people themselves so they are very understanding.

Great. Would highly recommend. They have paid out in the region of £5k for my horses ligament injury including for an MRI and shockwave treatment.

Another recommendation from me!! Claimed just over £2k last year on my horse without any quibbles and always helpfull on the phone when I was asking advice. Only excluded the exact location of injury (even though diagnosis was a bit wishy washy) and only put my premium up £30 this year. Very highly recommended- couldnt say anymore!

Surprises me, from what I heard KBIS had put their premiums up considerably his year - think they are now part of British Equestrian so may have been going through existing policies with a fine tooth comb. If the premiums cheaper however and the cover is liek for liek then you may aswell change as I have never heard any bad reports about them. However, if you're happy with your current insurer it may also be worth seeing if they can match the quote?

Likewise, I have only good experience with them - they settled a lameness claim last year that dragged on for 10 months in total.

Never had any problems (and I sent them multiple claim forms during that time).

i'm with KBIS for both my boys. old boy had 2 huge claims, each about £3000 a few years apart and they paid everything no quibbling. i had a copy of the cheque 2 days after i sent in the claim each time. my premium hasn't changed at all this year for my old boy. only just got the new one, but i didn't even bother shopping around - i trust KBIS so stuck with them.

KBIS are very highly recommended by my vet. Always used them as always very competitive and lovely people on the phone too!! Good idea Spottedcat, never thought of that!!!!

My old insurance company were bought out by them and initially I was a tad worried but they've been superb and a recent claim was sent to them on the Thurs and by the following Tues I had the cheque no quibbles, very very good!
