My daughter is looking into public liability insurance to cover her as a freelance groom.
I’ve looked into KBIS and SEIB.
My concern is KBIS have in their information that you must not tell the owner of the horse you are riding that you have care and control insurance or admit liability. I find this really odd as I’m sure the owners that she’s riding for want to know their horses are covered.

I wouldn't employ a freelance groom who didn't have care and control insurance or who wouldn't admit that they did. A yard with their own insurance might be less worried but I'd be a bit concerned at my own home. I have public liability insurance for my horses but I think it excludes anyone who is a paid professional. BGA would be a good place to ask this question also.

It’s BGA that sell this insurance and it does worry me. SEIB did state that they thought it was odd.
I just want to make sure we get the correct insurance that would help if anything happened.

Are the BGA independent of KBIS, I will speak to them tomorrow.
They are different organisations but I'm not sure what their commercial arrangement is with regard to selling this insurance. Also, £15k is not a high value for a competition horse these days so it depends who the potential clients will be.

It does say you can increase your cover for higher value animals.
Thanks for your advice though, clients need to be reassured you have insurance and you need to be sure you have too

I have spoken to the BGA, they are removing the paragraph from the website, as it’s misleading and not the case.

That sounds very odd. Can you share the KBIS blurb that states that?

Not admitting liability is standard advice, but not being able to tell the owners she works for that she has care and control insurance is AFAIK not.
