Kbis insurance

Excellent all my horses are insured with them. Friendly, helpful, open on a Saturday morning. Pay promptly and although slightly more expensive I have peace of mind...

And no we are not sponsored by them ;) but if they are offering :)

I've been with them for a few years and they are brilliant. Quick to pay out and all their staff have been nothing but lovely throughout some rather stressful times. I would certainly recommend them!

Ditto - brilliant - I have 5 policies with them... 2 x horses, 1 x horse box, 1 barn/ stables complex and 1 x livery yard.

I don't find them that pricey either, certainly they were cheapest for my livery yard and horse box. I get discount for multiple policies too :0) The cheapest ones can be a waste of money if they don't pay out (anyone want to get started on horror stories - I never hear anything good about E and L...?)

Staff are friendly and knowledgable at KBIS too.

Can't recommend them highly enough!! Have been with them for 12 years and have never had a problem, payment on claims always arrives within a few days and they have never once quibbled about paying out.

I found them very quick to pay out, and they would pay straight to my vet. I made three very big claims close together and they were very easy to deal with.

That's good :) I am needing to add a second horse as having my mare back and I can insure the 2 for the same price as I have one insured with Nfu..

Very helpful, horsebox and two of the horses insured with them. Had two claims and prompt to pay out, helpful with any queries.

My two older ones are only with PetPlan because KBIS didn't have suitable policies for my needs. Got claim going through with PP for one of the girls and while paying up OK it has taken a lot of legwork and phone calls to get things sorted properly.

I started to use them on the 7th of the month and on the 17th horse broke it's jaw in two places, they were fantastic, so professional and helpful, email everything to me within 10 mins... Would highly recommend!!!

...another recommend from me- Avs accident was horrific, they were so nice and helpful on the phone. When the mortality payment came through within 8 days of claiming it was in a hand written sympathy card, they talked me through the vet biils explaining exactly what I had to do and which bits I had to pay. They couldnt have been more helpful and even put up with my blubbing down the phone a lot!! Excellent service :D

KBIS are brilliant at paying up, but also brilliant at slapping all-encompassing exclusions on after you have claimed. So I switched to AmTrust. By all-encompassing, I mean like 'the entire digestive system' after a claim for ulcers. Well, the teeth are part of the digestive system, and there is no way having stomach ulcers predisposes a horse to having issues with the teeth! Lucky I did swap as horse got kicked in the head (bad luck much?!) and it would not have been covered as it was the teeth and jaw affected....

Agree with the exclusions, but they have been great for paying up and advice, I must have claimed over £8k in my first year with them.... They have a discount code on their FB page too if you do want to switch :)

not had any probs with them. had old horse insured with them for last 10yrs - stopped it this yr as 25 now and not much point anymore but had 2 big claims with them no probs. had another big claim with my youngster no probs and now have my eventer with them as well as my trailer. they're quite keen on quite blanket exclusions but I have managed to get unreasonable ones removed with letters from the vet/farrier.

Does anyone use them ? Are they reliable at paying out ?

Absolutely can recommend them - I have had many horses insured with them for many years, including having some big vet payouts for some of them, which they paid quickly and with no fuss at all. Have used some other companies in the past but won't move from KBIS now.

this is a reassuring thread to read as I've just swapped to them from the dreaded e&l!!!!!

A little off OP's thread but... although no experience with E&L personally (I am with NFU) was talking with friend on yard yesterday who has had an awful time with them. Insured pony and unluckily had to claim after the 28 day or 1 month timescale (not sure what of their T&C terms are) after pony had back issue after the specified claim term (within 3 or 4 days) they have refused to pay out. To read between the lines they think she is pulling fast one, which she most definitely isnt, she's just been unlucky. Had email confirmation of insurance and policy date acceptance but didnt receive any policy docs through the post prior to notifying them and now they are saying her insurance is invalid. Not a huge claim, approx £800. Awful customer service on the telephone (Im told). It does make you wary... Im sure there are people with positive comments about E&L but it does make you wary when you know a claim is an honest one

I've got my horsebox with KBIS & I cannot fault the service I've had with particularly when I made my claim...all sorted with minimum stress for me.
I think I'm going to swap my horses to them as well.

Could have written that myself! :) Been with them 15 years, many horses and some claims; all dealt with quickly and kindly. Wouldn't move no matter what incentive given just for that peace of mind.
