Keep your eyes open..please read..

This happened to a pony not too far from us, there was only the 1 pony in a field so put it down to either misguided individual or youths, poor pony ended up with no fly swatter, thankfully it was at the end of the summer so there weren't many flies left.

Just for information, if the hair is not found on site this can be linked to bird trapping as the horse hair is used by poachers, so if the hair is taken away then report it to the police, who should inform their wildlife officer, also make the rspca aware as they also investigate bird trapping. On the occassion near us the hair was left on site.

While obviously this is very serious and extremely annoying for anyone involved, does anyone else see the funny side? The interview makes it sound like the horses have been horribly abused! I'm not saying that it is completely funny, but it did make me laugh as thank god it doesnt hurt the horses. Silly me

I saw this on the news.Personally I can see where they are coming from as about 10 years ago in that area horses were having their tails cut off and then whoever it was started slashing horses with a knife so maybe they are worried that the slasher is back again. Also as pointed out on another site the horses have had their tails hacked at with most likely a knife as that is not the work of a bad hairdresser with scissors.

This happened at one yard very near us to three horses i believe, but it turned out to be a twisted individual holding a serious grudge against that owner and not a widespread thing that time.

there have aparantly now been a couple of horses in the Glos area who have had the same thing happen to them.Looks like whoever is doing it is either on the move or there are lots of different people doing it in different areas.

What a weird and odd thing for some little tiny minded person to want to do. I do find it scary to think that someone would come and 'do' anything to someone elses horse!

I am on quite a big busy yard, but I do take some releif in the fact that my mare doesn't let anyone she doesn't know get anyone near her, even if she is the last in the field type of thing so I kinda like that now when you hear things like this!

This happened at the yard I was at once and I found a length of horse tail which had blantantly been cut from a horses tail in the field. It had been cut with scissors as it was all one length - it had not been pulled or chewed off. I looked it up on the internet at the time and found it had tenious links to a pagan ritual but not entirely sure if this is true or not. I have just googled this again and found numerous links to pagan rituals including this one http://www.kincardineshireobserver.co.uk/news/Bizarre-attacks-on-horses.3777816.jp

A few days later in the middle of the field I found a rag doll wearing dungarees which had been pulled down exposing the dolls nether regions! This made me extremely worried and I removed my horse from the field. There were no children/public footpath crossing the field or no schools nearby. It just made me highly suspicious.
