Hello H&H'ers!

Looking to hear from you all on those of you with more than 1 horse & work full time, how do you keep yours fit over winter?

I have a 5 year old ex-racer who i aim to ride 5-6 days a week as would like to get him out & about to competitions this winter, however i also have a 22 year old TB X Morgan who would benefit from a bit of light exercise after having had summer off as he gets a little stiff during winter months due to be stabled for longer. I work full time Mon-Fri 8:30am - 4:30pm but looking for some useful hints and tips of how you guys keep yours fit!

TIA everyone!:)

I have 2 and work full time. I managed with 3 last winter so I should find it easier this year!

I am up the yard at 5.15 every morning, do stables/ hay/feed for the evening. Then go straight to the yard from work in the afternoon. That way I only have to ride in the evening and put night nets/ rug changes and feed.

If you can, prepare feeds and haynets at the weekend to cover you for the following week.

I also use wood pellets and shavings which makes mucking out 10x quicker!

Gosh and i thought 2 was hard work!

I have thought about a sharer and probably me being precious but he is a rescue horse from the Blue X and calling him quirky is a bit of an understatment. He has settled down a lot compared to how he used to be however he still has moments one the ground where people may say he is a bit dangerous and he can be hard work to ride.

If the right person came along it would be beneficial for him to and for me, however i am very precious when it comes to him because of how he is an his past experiences - more so than my ex racer!

Ride and lead, at least a couple of times a week if you don't want the older horse doing quite as much work as the tb. Two birds with one stone sort of thing :)
