I'm showing a friends horse for her on Sunday.

He is coloured, with great big long stockings! and a White tail!!!! He also has one white stripe in his mane

My question is once I have spent the best part of half my life getting him clean....Whats the best way to keep all that white clean?

I have:
* 7 tail bags...Thought maybe I could use some of those in his mane?
* Stable bandages by the bucket load
* Gamgee's
possibly other stuff but this is what I have off the top of my head!

I am meeting them at the show on Sunday morning and I want it to pref be so friend can whack boots on and tail bandage, load up and go.....

Thanks in advance :D

Stable bandage legs after chalking and brush off in the morning, snuggy hood if your have one which will protect mane and lie it flat too and stable rug. Plait the tail and bag it and if any dirt manages to get through the fort knox layers then spot wash in the morning.

I am hoping someone will have some ingenious ideas as my predominitly white paint horse is a dirty disgusting swamp monster, i fear the safest thing for me would be to leave him in the field hes cleaner out in he likes to dig a hole in his lovely deep bed make a mess on the bare floor then scramble on top ensure its well rubbed into his lovely white bits!
i use a thick cotton/canvas rug with neck cover, put tail bag on and bandage all for legs sadly this leaves a little leg, belly and face exposed and i will inevitably spend the morning scrubing these bits white again so any advice on how to cover these areas but still leave my lad comfortable to sleep would be welcome :) oh and it has to eb something the poo/pee can't soak through as i put him in a thin cotton rug once and the muck seeped through :) so now we use a tough canvasy type cotton rug (i want to go back to ahving a pretty girl my gelding is disgusting lol my filly was a shiny clean angel and she was a grey!)

Little worried if I put hood on, taking it off at the show (as that is where i am meeting them on Sunday) could be interesting. He has never worn a hood before. I guess we can try putting it on and off on saturday

Can I bandaged above the Knee/hock? Due to his stockings?

Do you have a stable available to keep him in? Maybe (if possible) you could put him in the field in the day. Let him get all dusty and then give him an extra good brush over so he looks star quality. Then keep him a stable overnight (unless he's one of those horses that loves to run around and can't stand being in a box) and he wouldn't be nearly as dirty afterwards...just a small brush in the morning and that would be it. Hoped I help :)

Sadly there is only one way....

Pixie dust.

I have a coloured and an appoloosa. The coloured isn't too bad but the appie likes to rest his head in his own poo.

Seriously - get them as clean as possible beforehand. Then use baby wipes and / or cowbody magic spray on the patches in the morning.

100% my plan! its going to take alot of elbow grease but he will be blindingly clean!!!

Luckily this boy is majority black but has great big white stockings A white tail....And white in his mane! Body im not too bothered about as I can cover that in a rug!

It's pretty much impossible to keep them all clean, the only way possible is to hang them from the rafters...........:) Or poo pick, poo pick, pee pick all evening and then feed his hay as late as possible to keep him eating as long as you can and hope he doesn't get too worn out standing up all night! :)

Mine wears his fly rug the night before cause it's got a big belly flap and goes right up over his ears. We bandage legs and he has some ancient soft travel boots on to cover knees and hocks. Baby wipes are brilliant and so is cowboy magic. Good luck :D

Has this did this last week. Put him to bed at 8pm, usually lives out 247, and was dreading the state he would be in, in the morning although he usually poos neatly in one corner when kept in, on the plus side he stood up alllll night, with a little rug on, but was so tired in the show he got marked down for lack of impulsion haha!

Show white paste wherever possible! Hood, rug, bandages if you can (i dont because they would crush feathers and my boy is a hot horse so would just destroy them!) Clean bed that is mucked out as late as possible. Baby oil on hocks etc to stop stains and coat conditioner everywhere else.

Go with dry shampoo and baby wipes for touch ups!

I have a grey and a chestnut with 3 stockings that both love getting dirty.

After giving them a wash my grey gets a rug, tail bag and skinny hood on. His legs get dryed and then he gets chucked out in the paddock again. He still has some dark points on his legs but they are slowly greying out. This is the result

My chestnut gets white chalk on his legs while they are still wet, Rugged, tail bagged and a skinny hood too. He also gets paddock boots on his hind legs. The chalk gets brushed off in the morning.
