Keeping a cut clean

Best way to keep a nasty cut on the lower cannon bone covered and clean please whilst turned out. Currently covered with gamgee, vetwrap and an old brushing boot over the lot, problem is when I take it off to re dress, the scab is being pulled a little and it starts to weep. Any better ideas that wont stick!

melolin sheet (sold in boots, used on burns, not too expensive) under the gamgee directly on the wound. It is designed to prevent burns sticking to their dressings. WIll work perfectly with your current arrangement.

Manuka honey (+10) and put on cut and dress as you are now. The honey will also speed up the healing process.

100% second the Manuka Honey - brillient at healing wounds. Melolin dressings too are great to prevent sticking.

Keep a bottle of saline solution for getting dressings off sticky wounds, dribble onto the wound and gently ease the dressing off.

Cover the cut with the Honey then cut the toe out of an old sock place the sock over the leg tape the bottom and top leaving the piece over the cut so that air can get to the cut.

Have just done the above with a cut over the fetlock joint on one of my mares. The honey stays on and the cut gets fresh air to it.
