Keeping a pony in the house...

Amusing yes! But is that sweat all over the horse, as it must be boiling hot inside her home which she keeps nice and heated for herself?

Mybe she'll clip it out fully next....LOL!

It was on the regional news last night and she was blaming all sorts of people for "depriving her of her grazing". Something to do with common grazings I think - she lives on an island. But apparantly common grazings up there are only for sheep and sometimes cattle, not horses. You would think she would be able to find a livery yard though.

That said, it wasn't that long ago before people shared their houses with their animals, animals in one room, humans in the next. So maybe she is just carrying on a tradition? Have to say the pony looks perfectly happy.

It does seem a bit mad the SPCA are offering to take the pony off her when there are surely so many more ponies in desperate need. It seems fairly to similar to any horse that may be kept in through winter - not ideal but you can't take away every horse that lives in!!!
I think it looks very well cared for and in good condition and health, I just really don't understand all the health concerns for it

Pony looks healthy and happy enough.Seems she has nasty and very nosy neigbours who like to poke their nose into other peoples affairs.Shes not harming anyone. At the end of the days, its her life and her house and nothing to do with anyone else.
I dont think theres a health problem,I am suspecting they had to follow it up after reports were made. There are so many other ponies that are desperate for help.Grrrrrrrrrrrr

You would have thought she could have better spent the time, effort and money finding alternative grazing for the pony.

There have been times when I've been desperate to find somewhere for my girls and have had the room to stick them in the garden but I wouldn't dream of it, they are horses - not dogs.

"She insists she has the best-kept pony in the north of Scotland" - well I disagree with that since I live in the NE and of course MY ponies are the best kept, he he!

At the end of the day, I really hope this is a very short term thing as it is not good for the pony to live like this. Why cant she find alternate grazing?! Its hardly like the Western Isles lacks grassland!

Crazy keeping a pony like that, where is she supposed to have a run round? Shes a young pony who has not yet been backed so cant be ridden. I know my youngster would be mighty put out with no where to stretch his legs.
