Hi All,

Horse's grumbling abscess has blown and is drawing through a hole in the white line area. I am poulticing twice a day and tubbing every other day but am having difficulty in keeping the 'blow hole' clean whilst horse is turned out - any ideas anyone??

what i would do ,.

and my mares abscess wont blow properly as its a lami one,

what you do
is put animallintex on then put a nappy on, followed by plastic from feed sac like hifi fibergy etc

then over lap duck tape over itself , about 5 pieces wide overlapping, then do the same the other way, lift your horses foot and place in the middle of it then fold up the bits up the side of your horses feet finish by going round the sides twice , put extra in the toe area

this makes a waterproof cheap boot, i am doing this now with styrofoam pads to keep them on

put have done this also with when they start going out .

Thanks for all the tips and will try the nappy thing and see how we go.

Hole is only small as is previous site of abscess which has just opened enough again to drain the dregs.

Horse is fully sound and 'razzing' quite a bit, hence the difficulty in keeping stuff on the foot:)
