Do you think it is necessary in this circumstance? 22yr old cob who normally lives out 24/7, very muddy and very hairy. Off early to a little show tomorrow so he has had his legs and tail washed out and has stood in yard and stable with wraps on his legs and warm stable rug on munching on hay. Legs are still damp and seem quite cold.
He will be staying in tonight to avoid him turning into the mud ball he was before wash earlier but the stable and shavings bed is a bit damp and cold (semi deep littered) and a little draughty (combination of old stable, torrential rain for last few weeks finally soaking through cracks etc and door usually being open to them coming and going - its not what I would call cosy!!) - heck everything is just damp!! I am just worried that he is standing in and is bound to feel a little arthiritic and pain from not moving about so much especially if he has cold damp legs. He will have adlib hay. Should I wrap his legs up again to keep him warm ? If so, I have stable bandages and gamgee pads or lightweight travel boots - what would be better (worried about bandaging all night)?
