Keeping flies off a sarcoid

My mares got a sarcoid in between her front legs, Ive been treating it with turmeric (mixed in with sudocrem) and it was getting a lot better but now the flies have been going mad for it. I can put the cream on thickly several times a day but while its warm it just sort of melts off (or her moving does it). Have showered her with repellent etc. but they keep irritating it. Any recommendations for creams that will stay on??

I use a Vaseline type antiseptic gel, can't think of the name right now, it's pink and smells of citronella, it has worked with ours. Will try and remember to look it up for you tomorrow. If not give me a nudge.

The thick yellow fly cream we used on a horses sarcoids, still got a bit melty.

Turmeric and sudocreme is an interesting combination, what does that do?

I've used battles summer fly cream on my mare's sarcoid this summer and after about 6 weeks of daily application the sarcoid has dropped off

Aah yes it must be Red Biddy? I forgot about that, although I dont know if citronella would be ok to go onto a sore sarcoid? I'll have a look at all these, thanks everyone

Well nudged, I'd forgotten!

It's by a company called Horse Sense and it's Called Protection Plus. Natural Antibacterial Salve, it's designed to be put on cuts and I've used it on "angry" warts and sarcoids without any protests from the horses or reactions.

I used this on sarcoids between the hind legs to deal with the flies, it worked and didn't cause a problem to the sarcoids but you obviously have to be able to use a spray on the horse.

Protection Plus (Carr, Day & Martin) or Itch Stop (NetTex) are both fab, repel flies and tend to stay fairly well put.

My boy has just had some removed so I couldn't put anything directly on the area but I used the Lincoln fly gel with deet, applied with a sponge, around them and had no fly problems at all.

I used to use the Licoln Green Gel on my previous geldings sarcoids and it worked well.

I bought some Copydex, rubber-based glue and some muslin and glued a square of cloth over my boy's sarcoid. Worked well too and the rubber glue just rubbed off.

Filta bacc cream is the best thing I have found .

Is it in a place where a snuggy rug would cover it without rubbing? They have the belly flap go between the front legs if so.
