Hey
Just thought id write a quick post to see if anyone has any ideas on how to keep my horse occupied.
He is on very light work at the moment as he has a bone spavin.
Well, I usually would ride him quite a lot and now im not he is making his own entertainment by being cheeky, spooking, being a handful to lead, running round in the field lots, cribbing etc.
Does anyone have any ideas of different exercises I could do or anything I can do to keep him occupied?

I read an article in another magazine (shush!!!) about a horse that couldn't be ridden for some reason - injury I think. Owner took him on walks by long-reining him. She practised first in a field and then took him out, they went for miles.

I did a bit of this with my beastie when I was pregnant. We didn't go off the farm though, he seemed to enjoy it.

i was going to say long reining, if you don't want to go on the roads you could put poles out in the school or field to make chanels for you to walk him trough corners to turn etc. it can be really good fun.

Toys can be good, i got my horse one of those balls you put pony nuts in he loves it and also it calms him down when hes a bit hyperactive.

I use a bordom breaker ball and put nuts in it at night instead of in his feed cause obviously it takes him longer to eat it and enjoys playing with it and in a morning he gets call will pieces of carrot in to keep him quiet also lickits and he has a football he plays with all to keep him busy
