keeping mane tidy under bridle

does anyone clip a small bit of mane off so that the bridle can sit neatly behind the ears? my boy has quite a long mane and forelock at the mo and it just gets in the way, so thought about clipping a small area off. or will he just look silly?!

Yes - I used to cut a bridle path - it's more comfortable for them.
